I always liked natural instincts hair color. I am very sensitive to hair dyes. Some make my scalp bleed, some burn it. My friend owns a salon and had to put sweet and low in her professional color. I do not go to her place anymore, so I been using this brand, like I used too. The color holds up about a month and a half to two months for me. My head has never itched nor burned. It is a great product and recommend to anyone who has super sensitive scalp.

I've been using it for years. It's more gentle than others. And because it's got a gradual fade, there's not obvious harsh line showing when the roots grow out. It DOES last though. I avoid coloring the ends, and they are still full of color.

My natural hair color is dark auburn. At 50+ much of it is sprinkled with gray now (hence the need for color). In an effort to save money as well as protect my hair from becoming too damaged I thought I would try using box color in between salon visits. This is a very nice, gentle hair color. It covers my grays well although they do turn out a bit lighter than the rest of my hair. I follow the directions and color the grays and roots first then comb thru to the ends for the last few minutes. Be careful not to leave on your ends too long as they will turn out much darker than the rest of your hair. The scent isn't overwhelming and chemically like other coloring products. The coverage usually lasts about 2-3 weeks before I start seeing fading and new growth of gray hairs popping out. This color is a nice warm, medium auburn on top of my natural dark auburn and gray hair. Not brassy or red - red. Overall I am very happy with it. It's easy to apply and the price is good too.

THIS HAIR DYEEE!! Oh my god cant say enough good things about this hair dye! I used it over my red hair and it immediately made my hair brown! There is still some red undertones but it’s impossible to see unless in the sun! This is such worth the price and i will be buying again.

I’m not one for writing reviews but always rely on the reviews of others when I’m doing research on a product or service 😂 This time I just had to review this product! Background on me, I am an African American female in her 40’s and have natural hair that’s about half way down my back. I use heat no more than once a year and only use a wide tooth comb on bith mine and my daughter’s hair. So, I am very particular about my hair 😊 I was so afraid to color my hair on my own, but did research and decided to try this in black. I had previously had my hair colored about 5 months ago with permanent color and the individual was so super rough with my hair that I didn’t want to even let her touch up my color. Let me tell you, this product covered EVERY SINGLE GREY HAIR! And, I heard the temple area is the hardest to color. My hair was so soft and I have lots of hair and only used one box, but I would still order two just in case. I only touched up my edges in the front temple area and along where I wear my part. I’m so serious and I’m not paid at all for this review. Please give this a try. I did follow the directions verbatim except I shampooed my hair the same day. I rinsed the color out with slightly cool water in the shower and once the water ran clear, I commenced to shampoo with Shea Moisture for kids carrot and mango shampoo, which I’ve used for several years now on mine and my daughter’s hair and we both love it. I used the conditioner that came with the color also to deep condition my hair and used my normal TGIN Green Tea leave in as my styler along with Shea Moisture curl foam and flaxseed Eco styler gel. I also had no allergic reactions and I have very sensitive skin. I did not do a allergy test prior to using the color, though I would recommend doing that. Basically, this color is amazing, it didn’t blend the greys, they are completely gone.

I have been a long time user of Clairol root touch-up colorblend permanent root touch-up which does pretty well on covering my gray roots but it irritates / burns my scalp a bit. Clairol Natural Instincts ammonia free covered my grays even better and did not have any irritation whatsoever. Now this is the first time using it so the real test will be how long the dye lasts and how often I have to dye my hair (I use this in between professional hair appointments) but after a first try, I think this will be my new product I use in place of the root touch-up product. I also like that it has coconut oil and aloe. My hair felt very healthy afterward. And no strong smells when dying hair, that was an added bonus!

I have used this product for years! I like the fact that it gradually washes out and no root line. They have changed the formula over the years which wasn’t a deal breaker, but this last change has caused my scalp to itch for a few days after using this product. I wish these companies would leave products alone instead of thinking they are improving it!
