  • Good replacement for factory-supplied charger
Size: 18 Feet Style: Portable
My Kia PHEV has a 13.8KWh battery pack and I have a Level 2 charger in my garage which charges at up to 7.6KWh rate (32A/240V). That’s just 2 hours for a full charge. Sadly Kia provided only a Level 1 charger in the trunk so it tops out at 1.7KWh meaning an 8 hour charge at best. This unit can match that but because it is also Level 2 it can work with NEMA 6-20 receptacles albeit limited to just 16A. That charge rate would be 3.8KWh or roughly a 4 hour charge. All in all I like the extra flexibility this gives me when traveling. The 16A limit makes it a bit slow for at-home charging of my car but a good compromise for replacing the Kia charger in the trunk. Nicely packaged in a carry bag, comes with an adapter cable for Level 1 use and an outer cardboard box for shipping. ... show more

  • A great way to charge your EV or Hybrid EV
Size: 18 Feet Style: Portable
We got this charger to charge a vehicle we are interested in purchasing. The amps were good for the car we are looking to get. By using a 20 amp plug in, we can use a standard wall outlet in our garage. We will not need to hire an electrician to install this charger. The amps is lower than 220v chargers so it will take longer to charge but we can live with that. ... show more

  • Safe, but clunky.
Size: 18 Feet Style: Wallbox
I opened the case to confirm that all of its components are up to the task of handling 32 amps, and it’s all good inside. Even tested the GFCI feature and that works too. Unfortunately, you don’t get any kind of data, such as volts, amps, watts, kWh... because there’s no display. You also cannot increase or reduce the current through dip switches or jumpers. It’s 32 amps only. There are other downsides. The cable is a little cumbersome, especially in cold weather, due to its PVC jacket. The J1772 connector feels flimsy. The wall box is bulky, considering how empty it is, though it is easy to mount and waterproof. And it’s not exactly great value for money. For the same price, there are other EVSEs with higher current ratings and more features. Still, since EVSEs are basically just extension cords anyway, this one works fine. ... show more

  • Works well, but may require an adapter for level 2 charging
Size: 18 Feet Style: Portable
This is a nice charging cable. There is a digital display that indicates voltage, current, how long I took to charge, etc. It’s nice information, but it also means that there are more electronics that can go wrong. One would hope that there’s enough isolation that if the display dies the charger continues to work. I have only been able to test it with level one charging. I have a 240v outlet I use with my factory charger, but the wall plug is not the same as the stock charger for the Nissan Leaf. The cheapest adapter I’ve seen is about $27. I got this to have in the car while the factory one stay in the garage. The odds are very slim that I’d have access to a 240v outlet on the road, so the level one would probably be all I’d e able to use anyway. I took off one star because it said it’s compatible with Nissans, but it doesn’t say that you need an adapter to use it with a 240v outlet. Yes it says a NEMA 6-20 plug, but that doesn’t mean anything to most people. If you say it works with Nissans, the you would expect it to do so without an adapter. ... show more

  • Great for travel!
Size: 18 Feet Style: Portable
Awesome for travel when there are no convenient public chargers! Now you can pull up any where and plug in, often for free because it has an option for a regular 3 prong wall charger! It fits most cars, just confirm your model and get the benefits by having a peace of mind anywhere you travel!

  • Economical Type 2 Charger
Size: 18 Feet Style: Wallbox
The media could not be loaded. I've been charging my plug-in hybrid with a type 1 charger. It wasn't convenient because when the battery was run down it would take up to 13 hours to charge. The EVMaster type 2 charger is charging more than twice as fast. The installation was easy. I ran a band of plywood spaning the studs as the supplied drywall anchors seemed weak to be supporting the heavy duty cableing. The charging box has an led status indicator and a shut off switch, so it's basic, but it does everything it needs to charge your vehicle safely, with protection features. It plugged right in to my 50 amp outlet and the plug is a nice fit into my RAV4 PHEV. Update: I ran the battery all the way down, with a type 1 it took 13 hours, with this type 2 - 3 hrs! ... show more
