Bought this unit thinking that it would charge my vehicle and also allow me to use the built-in charging scheduler (allowing me to charge when cheaper rates are active). This charger will charge a vehicle but will not allow the built-in timers to work. I have a Ford EV and this unit when connected during a waiting period to charge will show finished in the vehicle shows charging error instead of waiting to charge. Tried the same thing with a different cable (Romaa RM-EV-P004) and was able to get charging via the vehicle timings working without an issue. Worked with tech support and although they were very responsive they confirmed that this cable will not work with a vehicle's built-in charging scheduler allowing it to charge when rates are lower. You would need to use the cables built in countdown timer and set that every day to count down to the time window when your rates are cheaper if you wish to use a scheduler.

What stands out most about this charger is that it has numerous features, such as adjustable charging amps (8, 10, 13, 16) and volts (110, 220), time setting to start and length to charge, and many safety features (see product description--there's a lot). The screen gives you lots of useful information, including charger and vehicle battery temperature. I used it first at my son-in-law's house where he has a 220V outlet. I was able to charge at 13A. The actual "speed" is negotiated between this device and your car rather than this device alone. I only have 110V at my house where I usually charge the car with the cable that came with the vehicle. I may end up using this charger instead because of the data and settings it provides. Things to note: do as the first page of the instructions say: "Please read the manual carefully before use." I had read the "manual" (a single color printed page), but didn't have it with me when I first used the device. I couldn't quite remember how to turn it off to unplug it. I couldn't get the charging plug to release and got somewhat frustrated not being able to pull the plug, literally. The manual explains to press and hold for 5 seconds. I was only pressing. The other thing of note in the manual is that changing any settings once it's plugged into the vehicle won't work. That is, set everything as you'd like (e.g., amperage) *before* plugging it into your car. This is clearly not a criticism of the device or manufacturer. It's user error for not having the manual handy when I first used it. It turns out, in my futile attempts to get the device unplugged from my car, I ended up setting the language to Chinese! One very positive thing that came out of my messing up, though, is that I emailed the vendor and got a reply within 8 hours with exact instructions on how to change it back to English. Impressive support (for a minor issue).

Unit operates OK so far. The plus is a NEMA 6-20 as pictured with a NEMA 5-15 adapter which should probably be a 5-20 adapter since they allow 16 amp selection where as you should only be pulling about 12 amps from a 15amp circuit. Be sure to set current to 12A or lower when using on a 15a circuit and reserve 16a for a 20a plug. The display is bright but rather low-res looking with grainy graphics. It serves the purpose to inform you of what is going on but looks a bit dated. When charging the display bounces between two status displays which is a little annoying, I'd prefer a simple static display showing what's going on vs. changing constantly. Be sure to check how long of a cord you need as this is shorter than the Gen 1 Tesla mobile charger.

It’s an off brand so I was a little nervous ordering it but it’s been working out well. The display is easy to read and I like the safety features it has. It detects temps and will auto shutoff if it gets too hot. The length of the cord is pretty average. I needed to purchase a good quality extension cord since our outlet is to far from the car. It’s less expensive then some of the name brand ones which makes it more affordable. It charges at the speed it advertises and I’m able to charge my Chevy bolt overnight with no issues. Cable feels thick and is in good shape.

I got this to keep in my Wife's EV just incase she finds herself somewhere and in need of an emergency charge - think of it as the modern day equivalent of an empty petrol can in the trunk. The charger and cables come in their own carry case so you can stow away neatly in the trunk or frunk of your EV. Charging @110V isn't as quick as the Chargepoint L2 240V chrarger we have installed in the garage, but that's to be expected. At this price point it's pretty perfect for what we need it for. Recommended.
