  • Working Well Solar Charging Our KONA EV (No free sample was given to me.)
I bought this charger to facilitate my attempt to charge our new Hyundai KONA EV from our DIY home solar power system. So far, it is working perfectly. While Hyundai is not listed here as a compatible vehicle, the Hyundai is listed in the user manual As compatible, and this charger communicates perfectly with the KONA EV. I’ve wired 240 volts to our garage from our solar power inverters. The five 240-volt selectable charging rates are just what I needed to be able to extract maximum available power from our solar panels. On bright sunny days I can select a higher charger rate. On cloudy days I can still add charge to the EV, though at a lower rate. Pleasingly, I find that this LEFANEV charger integrates well with the KONA EV charging protocol. For example, on the control screen inside the KONA, I can set for the car to start accepting a charge at 9:00 in the morning, when the sun gets high enough for decent solar power production, and to stop charging at 4:00 in the afternoon when the sun is too low in the sky. If this charger is connected to the car before 9:00 in the morning, the charger displays a message that says “Waiting For Signal From Car”. At 9:00, the charger will automatically begin to deliver power to the KONA. That is pretty neat, and just what I was hoping for. For less than $250, this charger seems like a great value to me, and satisfies my needs very well. ... show more

  • Works great, like the multiple current selection.
I've been looking for a versitle charger for a while and was happy to see this product at a decent price. Key features, lots of currents to chose from and works at 120v and 240v so no matter where I am it will work. Just be sure to stock a variety of adapters for common plugs in your trunk. Update 5/31/20: Charger starting to fail, can only charge on a few lower level current values, max current no longer works. ... show more

  • Works well for BMW X5 edrive :) Very good quality so far!
I purchased this charger with the advice and recommendation of the EV professional, and I am very satisfied with its quality and functionality. So far, I don't find any problem with this charger.

  • So far so good.
There were no surprises, everything works as expected. Keep in mind that it has NEMA 6-20 plug. If you want to plug it into standard 120v outlet, you need an adapter.

  • A good charger as long as you understand the limitations
I own a Chevy Bolt electric car and wanted a charger that would allow me to charge my car faster than I can with a regular 120V household outlet. This LEFANEV charger can definitely reduce your charging times, but you need to understand the specifications of the outlet you are plugging it into and also make sure that you have the correct adapter if the outlet you want to use is not designed for a NEMA 6-20 plug. Most people who own their homes will pay an electrician to wire an outlet designed for level 2 charging in their garage, then buy the appropriate level 2 charger. But if you are renting and you already have a higher voltage plug that maybe your dyer connects to in your laundry room, you can use that outlet if it's close enough to your garage and you have the correct adapter for the charger. Just make sure you understand the exact voltage of that dryer outlet so that you don't try to exceed the maximum output that it supports, or you could end up burning your house down. There are several companies that sell adapter cables to go from just about any type of outlet to your charger, no matter what type of plug you are using. Fortunately this charger supports voltages from 100 to 250, and it can also operate at 6, 8, 10, 13, or 16 amps. So no matter what type of outlet you have in your home, as long as it's something other than a regular 120V outlet, you should be able to take advantage of faster charging with this charger. It may not be as fast as a public charging station, but any improvement can make a big difference in your maximum daily range if you are charging your car overnight like most people. ... show more
