This is the second charger we've bought for our 2022 Chevy Bolt. The first one (different brand) worked intermittently and finally burned up. This one has done better for the roughly seven months we've had it, although it does stop charging when it gets too hot. We live in the desert and this past summer was especially hot. However, we normally charge the car at night when temperatures (and electric rates) are lower, so there's no reason the charger shouldn't function properly. Frankly, what we have saved on gas since we bought the Bolt has paid the car payments, so even if we had to replace the charger once a year it would be a bargain.

i purchase this unit for my Tesla Model 3 Long Range, and the install was pretty easy. After my Electrician installed the Nema 14-50R. The menu lights up, tracks and negotiates with the car on the charge rates. And tells you at the end how much whr was given, and length of time. Downside: you must capture the values, as there is no menu. Its not smart and so it will not collect history or store logs. For $499, I'd wish that it was a bit smarter with wireless or bluetooth. But in the vendors defense there is a $600 dollar version with those features. And while I have Telsa, i wanted a universal plug in the event my 3rd EV is something else. Its just a bit of manual data log capturing to see the total cost. And in there the defense the electric company Does not have smart metering either.

This is our 2nd EV charger we've had to purchase. Our first charger the Wallbox 48A charger was great looking and had all the smart accessories like a phone app and charging history you need. I must say that I was not disappointed with the Wallbox, but it would not communicate with my Ioniq 5. I did test it on another EV and it did work well. My wife was getting upset about the fact that our level 1 supplied charging cable was taking over 60 hours to charge our car. So, I decided to try the V box which was a less smart charger but still had 48A of power. Jackpot, this charger does the job in under 6 hours. Worked great the first time and have not had any problems since. The main point is that we needed to have a reliable charger and the V box served that purpose.

Seller contacted me and sent a replacement. Received in new condition properly wrapped and with no issues. Install was simple and 1st charge happened quickly. Will update in a few months after more experience. Note: Remember to set amperage on back to match your wiring and breaker amperage prior to mounting, this comes set at 48 amp.

We bought this charger to use with our new ID.4 specifically because we wanted a 48-amp capable charger with a NEMA 14-50 plug. It's VERY lightweight, which is great - it probably weights half as much as the older 16A Siemens charger we have for our Volt. Installation is super easy, and it hangs well on drywall. Very nice, easy to read display. The 20 foot cord is great for cars that have the plug in the back. We had it up and running in less than 30m. One quick note - sometimes the plug needs a bit of a push to engage with the car - not sure if that's on the ID.4 side or the charger side, but a little bit of elbow grease is sometimes necessary to push it in and get it to charge at the full 48A.

Tried to install and use this with my 2022 VW ID4. It just wouldn’t negotiate with the VW software for some reason. I ended up returning the unit and opted for the Grizzl-e, which is fewer amps but has rock solid reviews. The Grizzle-e plugged in and worked immediately. I tried several rounds with support, who were nicely responsive, but no success. I could only ever get 1 kWh from the Lectron (on a 60A circuit, direct plug into a NEMA outlet installed when my house was built last year) VW support reported mixed success with the Lectron to me via the phone. They recommended several other chargers that seem to be having better success for the 48 A models - the issue is that every other 48 A model out there is hundreds more in cost. I’m looking at you ChargePoint! $800 is a lot for a home charger when there are so many other good choices. Long and short - I’m not sure that the difference between 48 A and 40 A is going to have much effect on my charging. It’s the rare day that I would fill up an ICE car on a daily basis so do I really need the speed at home for my EV? I’m getting 32 miles in an hour on my home charger. I can use free Electrify America charging for a few years if I need something more or faster. I hope Lectron can make things work. As batteries grow and ranges get longer it’ll be nice to have an affordable option. Maybe it’ll be a future upgrade for me.
