Does not connect to launch pad

Functionality is a mixed bag. In my experience. It only works through a proprietary app. You can't use it with torque or other universal OBD Bluetooth adapter apps like that. I was able to read and clear engine fault codes on my 2014 Acura TL but the app was slow and inconsistent. Readability wasn't the best. A lot of the functions would start get to 20% or so then freeze there even if I gave it over 10 minutes . Value isn't the strongest. You can get the same functionality for a lot less money and use any app you want. If you can catch this dirt cheap it would be worth it. I really don't like having to download a proprietary app. There's way less functionality here than something like torque on Android which has tons more functionality. This is really only good for reading and clearing check engine lights.

This device comes really close to being an absolute perfect replacement for a standalone scanner. The reason I’m not gonna give it perfect marks is it requires a login. My expectation was to connect to it without having to agree to terms and conditions. The functionality of the device is exactly as it says. It works well as a scanner as well as a full scanned device. There are reports that it makes and they honestly look great but if you want to keep getting those a payment is required. Even though this device is very easy to use and the instructions are very clear. I don’t know if I would use this again unless it was absolutely necessary. Again, taking out my personal likes and dislikes of logging into a device, this system works really well. It’s small and quick. It hung up a couple of times, but I’m not sure why so I tried again until it function again and it seems like it was possibly user error, but I don’t know what because it didn’t specifically say. Scanner portion, where you look just at the OBD data is nice because the functionality of the report gives you an actual spelled OK if everything scanned well. The full report gives how much time left to the next oil change that kind of thing. I think the most people would really enjoy that. I didn’t enjoy the in-app purchase pop-ups for purchasing full functionality of the device. However, being a advocate of neutrality, this is still a very functional and easy to use device that if a scanner is needed, this will fit the bill no problem.

I picked up this OBD2 scanner to keep better track of my vehicle and it’s been really useful so far. It connects easily to my phone and gives a lot more detailed information than basic code readers. The diagnostics are quick and easy to understand. It pulls codes, shows live data, and gives a pretty clear idea of what might be going on with the car. That alone makes it worth having, especially for check engine light issues. The AI guidance is a nice addition too. It helps break things down and gives you a better idea of possible fixes and what to expect, which is helpful if you’re not super experienced with car repairs. I also like that it can check more than just basic engine codes. Being able to access other systems and see more detailed reports makes it feel closer to a professional tool. Overall this is a solid diagnostic tool, especially if you want something more advanced than a basic scanner. It’s convenient, informative, and helpful for both quick checks and deeper diagnostics.

LAUNCH brand - AIOBD Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner - Full System Diagnostics, Works with iPhone & Android $49.99. The app has an easy to use interface (pic1). It is a shame it is UNUSABLE. After I login (yes, you have to have an email address), I'm presented with a simple user interface. Except nothing works. Anytime I click on anything, the app redirects me to an authorization screen (pic2). I copy the serial number from the box but then I'm stuck at the 8 digit authorization code. There is no code anywhere on the product. I haven't heard back from their customer service yet. But even if I can get this working, I realize this device is locked behind a paywall. We are buying this OBD2 scanner but it only works with this proprietary software which LOCKS the functions behind a subscription fees. Shouldn't buying the scanner be enough? If I had known there is a MONTHLY fee, no matter how small, I would have bought a different brand. I'd rather pay more upfront and own it forever. I would not recommend this brand. My next purchase will be for a standalone OBD scanner with a built in screen so I won't have to deal with apps and Bluetooth and subscriptions anymore.

This review is for the: LAUNCH AIOBD Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner… This is a nice little device that plugs into your vehicles OBD/OBDII port and via a downloadable app turns your phone into a full featured automotive scan tool. Being an auto tech I thought I would give this a try. Once the app is downloaded the device connects seamlessly via Bluetooth to the phone and this was a nice surprise how easily it worked. The bandwidth seems very good and data is responsive. However my conclusion is that this is a great alternative for a DIY’er but not for a pro. The subscription fees are geared towards the DIY’er and priced at $20++ per brand so if you are working on different brands routinely this is just not economically feasible considering what this tool offers (solid diag but basic). The AI function which suggests common issues (mass produced cars have mass produced issues) is a nice add-on and I do wish more entry level scan tools had this. I plan to relegate this to the glove box when I take trips and this is a nice convenience factor I have to admit over carrying a case with scan tool. If Launch were to offer a reasonable full subscription fee instead of ala carte type fee AND upgrade the app to work natively full screen hi-res on tablets like iPad this imo could be a versatile entry level pro tool.
