Another great LAUNCH vehicle-specific scan tool. This appears to be the latest version of consumer/professional-grade full-system Creader Elite series scan tools. The Creader Elite is generally vehicle-specific with free lifetime upgrades. However, the Mall function allows you to subscribe and download other vehicle brands for a monthly fee of $3 to $6 depending on the vehicle brand. The X500 may replace the LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0/3.0 scanner. A search for the differences between the two states they are physically and hardware-wise the same. I find that inaccurate as the X500 SPARKACE series has a slightly different user interface. Both the "older" Creader and this new Creader run the same vehicle software, so in that respect there is no difference. However, I did find the X500 about 8% faster when doing a full vehicle scan. My Mercedes has approximately 55 control modules and the scan includes those plus items I don't have, such as ABC suspension. Were I to guess, I would estimate modern Mercedes to have the upward of 75 to 80 potential modules. Doing a full system scan took about three minutes on my 2015 SL400 and almost five minutes on my 2014 C350. I suspect that is due to the C350 having actually less modules but the scanner must interrogate for all possible modules. Because all LAUNCH scanners seem to now use the same software versions, functionality seems to be the same, as well. However, again, the user interface will differ slightly from the entry-level, vehicle-specific scan tools which may have larger screens, different versions of the Android OS, and other hardware specific differences. In addition to being faster, the X500 offers a QR code when choosing to share a completed diagnostic report. The prior version offers only email reports. The QR code takes you to a website that displays the full report which you can also share as you would any other website. Connectivity is quick and the network (WiFi) connections seems more stable. The X500 has greater memory capacity and also supports DoIP and CAN FD, which the older version does not. Though I haven't needed connection for on-line services, the X500 has that capability. Bottom line: the LAUNCH Creader Elite X500 is a much improved version of the venerable LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0.

Very capable Mercedes scanner for the price I’ve been impressed with this scanner so far. Setup was straightforward, the touchscreen is responsive, and it automatically recognized the vehicle without much hassle. Being designed specifically around Mercedes makes it much more useful than a basic universal OBD2 code reader. The biggest advantage is being able to access the different vehicle modules, read and clear codes, view live data, and perform active tests. The bidirectional controls are especially useful for troubleshooting because you can actually command certain components instead of just reading a fault code and guessing at the problem. It also includes a good selection of service functions such as battery registration, oil reset, ABS bleeding, transmission adaptations, and other resets. Having lifetime updates without an additional subscription is another big plus. For around $200, it offers a lot of diagnostic capability in a compact tool. If you work on your own Mercedes or want something more advanced than a standard OBD2 scanner without spending professional-shop money, this is a solid option.

La interfaz es bastante sencilla de utilizar y permite acceder a diferentes sistemas del vehículo, leer y borrar códigos y realizar varias funciones de servicio y diagnóstico. Me gusta especialmente que está diseñado para Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter y Maybach, ya que permite realizar un diagnóstico más profundo que un lector OBD2 básico. La función bidireccional también es una gran ventaja para realizar pruebas y comprobar diferentes componentes durante un diagnóstico. La construcción se siente resistente, la pantalla tiene buen tamaño y hasta ahora ha respondido muy bien.
