I’m a DIYer and bought this mainly for myself and my immediate family, but it’s already proven useful beyond that. After getting it, I updated it right away and the process was simple and straightforward. The user interface is clean, easy to navigate, and doesn’t feel overwhelming even with how many features this tool has. This scanner does have a subscription, but it includes two years free, which is more than enough time to get serious value out of it. Considering that many mechanics charge around $200 just for a diagnostic, this tool realistically pays for itself after only one or two uses. After that, you’re basically in the profit every time you use it. What really sold me is how versatile it is. I can use it on my own vehicles, help family members diagnose issues, and even assist friends, coworkers, or someone who’s broken down and needs quick answers. It goes far beyond basic code reading and gives real, usable information that helps you decide what’s safe to drive and what needs attention. I spent a lot of time researching scanners before buying this, including looking at Autel and several other brands. For the price range, this one stood out as the best balance of capability, features, and usability. It feels powerful without being locked behind expensive professional-only tools. One thing worth noting is that this model charges via USB. Some older reviews mention a different charging style, but that’s no longer the case. USB charging makes it much more convenient and modern. Overall, this is a solid investment for anyone who works on their own vehicles or wants a capable diagnostic tool without paying shop prices. If you use it even a couple of times, it more than justifies the cost. Highly recommended for DIYers.

As a professional technician, throughout my career in shops, I've become quite comfortable using many different types of scan tools ranging from Snap On, Matco and Autel just to name a few. Having readily available scan tools is absolutely fundamental to this career, however, with so many different scan tools in the market now in days it can become quite frustrating making a decision on which one to purchase. My coworkers saw a review on this Top Don product and were pretty impressed to say the least specially for its price and so I took a shot and purchased one for myself (my very 1st personal scan tool since all the other ones I've ever used belonged to the shops). I was a bit nervous because I did not know if this product would keep up with the various amount of tests I perform daily on multiple different types of makes and models of vehicles. I have now been using this scan tool for about a month now and I must say, I am very impressed. This product has been able to keep up with every task I have thrown at it. I have even been able to program keys for Honda, Mazda, BMW, Audi and Kia. It's incredible the amount of things I can perform with this tool. I can compare data streams, access many special functions of many different types of modules, record data, extract codes and even send the report through e-mail to make it readily available to print making it an absolutely fundamental tool when chasing error codes or looking for component failures or even command modules to operate so many different types of outputs. Its connectivity is surprisingly faster than the shop's $6000 Snap On Scanner! Its incredible how easy the interface on this device is, so straight forward and easy to navigate. If your serious about this career, this tool is a MUST HAVE for your tool box. I have used other Top Don products and have always been more than pleased with their high quality. Once again they have surpassed my expectations once more, creating such powerful device and making it available for tech's who are just starting off or for professionals who are seriously involved in the trade, this tool is highly recommended for you!

As a professional mechanic with over 10 years of experience, I can confidently say this OBD2 scanner is one of the best I’ve used in my shop. It’s reliable, accurate, and fast – three things that are crucial when you’re diagnosing multiple vehicles in a day. The interface is intuitive, and it provides detailed data on a wide range of systems, from engine codes to ABS and SRS diagnostics. One of the standout features for me is the bi-directional control, which allows me to actively test components like fuel injectors, fans, and throttle. It helps me pinpoint issues much faster than other scanners I’ve used in the past. The live data stream is incredibly useful for catching intermittent problems, and the graphing function is a nice bonus. What sets this scanner apart is its compatibility with both newer and older vehicle models, making it a versatile tool that I can use on anything that comes into my shop. For the price, it’s hard to find a more comprehensive and dependable OBD2 scanner. I purchased this scanner for my dealership to do more diagnosis in-house. First impressions are that the unit is very high quality and easy to use. The hard case and interior foam compartments are very well done. It was easy to connect to wifi for the first time and download available updates. A listing of vehicles I have tested it on so far: 2001 Jeep Cherokee 4.0: would not auto recognize the VIN so I had to manually enter it. I was able to use bi-directional controls to command an EVAP component and the cooling fan. 2010 Ford Expedition 5.4: Auto VIN recognition worked and it was able to access all modules including air suspension codes and audio/entertainment system 2009 Chrysler Sebring Convertible: Auto VIN recognition worked and it was able to access modules for airbags and BCM. Unfortunately, I was unable to access bi-directional controls for the convertible top, which is what I was primarily interested in. It could access the module and identify the trouble codes related to the top, but did offer the option to use bi-directional control 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt: accessed all modules and performed oil life reset. 2006 Ford F-250 5.4: accessed all modules and commanded RPM and intake runner activation 2006 Ford F-450 6.0 Diesel: accessed all modules and commanded VGT turbo vane activation and RPM Overall, it seems to be able to access most modules across the brands and vehicles I have tested. I’ll edit this review as I scan more GM vehicles. My primary complaint is the inability to command convertible top operation on the Chrysler and the emissions readiness test indication is not clear. I have other scanners that will simply provide a green light if the vehicle will pass emissions, although this may be more related to my inexperience with the unit. I’ll give it a 4.5 out of 5.

Excellent scan tool with so many features. This scanner far outweighs the 2000-dollar Snap-on scanner. So far, this scanner is my favorite out of all of the ones I have owned. The value for the money is exceptional; you can't go wrong. The scanner is easy to use and has a lot of advanced features that a lot of others don't have. It has key programming, ECU programming, you can program ABS modules... the list goes on.

I never heard of TopDon until a few years ago. Some of my mechanic friends used them and I bought a battery tester and battery jump starter and they worked really well. So when it came time to get a better OBD2 scanner than my BlueDriver, I made the jump to this model. It's a Bi-Directional scanner which means it can control the BCM's or body control modules that are in most cars built after 2000. I have GM's and Toyotas from the mid 2005's and this scanner worked very well. Because my cars are 18 - 20 years old, they do not have as many modules to test and control which is actually a good thing as it's easier to repair. The newer cars today way too many BCM's but this scanner can read them. With this scanner I was able to control parts of my Suburban like testing the backup lights without moving the shifter lever or test my power seats. The advantage of a BI-Directional scanner is I can bypass a switch to see if the device works. So if I can put my windows up and down with this scanner, but the window switch can't then the motor is good and the switch is bad. It makes it easier to diagnose problems. The unit feels very beefy and well built. This model uses a cable to connect to the OBD2 port which is a personal preference as I've left my BlueDriver module in the OBD2 port in my wife's car and she was driving around with it there and asked me why there was a blue light flashing by her knee. With this unit I don't have to worry about leaving this plugged in as there is a cable. This unit does so much more than my BlueDriver and I'm still learning this unit but am very happy with the extra features that I can do with this but not the BlueDriver. Will update as I use this on newer cars of my friends. Also, the TopDon youtube channel shows how to use many of their devices and it is very well done. I like it when a product has how to videos to show how to use them. Happy Happy Happy

Just purchased this as my needs grew as a DIY Mechanic. I have an ArtiDiag 600, which works great but doesn’t have the "Bi-Directional Control" option I need to turn on and off an EVAP vent valve. I have watched MANY YouTube videos to learn about different scantool vendors and about the Bi-Directional controls that true scantools offer that would allow me to manage and control certain valves and solenoids for testing purposes. I needed to control the EVAP Vent Valve to run a smoke test to try and find a leak to help fix it to clear the DTC P0456 Check Engine light. I spent a lot of time figuring out which vendor/device to buy, Autel, ThinkCar, xTool, Lauch, iCarsoft, etc., which I could afford as these scantools can be VERY expensive. One of the things that I read about most is the terrible Customer Support from most of the vendors I mentioned above; they either offer poor or no response, poor results, or even no help at all. I decided to call Topdon Support to test them to see if they could answer this question: Which is the minimum device that I could buy that can give me full Bi-Directional Controls? The support rep was very friendly and asked me a few questions to find out exactly what I needed and how I would use the device; he mentioned that the ArtiDiag Pro was all I would need, nothing more. I then asked him if the more expensive Topdon Professional Scantools would perform better bi-directional features; his answer was no; he said you either have Bi-Directional options or not, and there isn’t a “better version” of it if you buy the more expensive tool. He mentioned that based on my budget and what I needed to accomplish, the ArtiDiag Pro was all the power I needed since I wasn’t a full-time real mechanic in a shop. The rep also told me that the unit comes with 2 years of free updates; after 2 years, it costs $249 per year, and that ArtiDiag Pro comes with 2 years of warranty with email tech support AND phone tech support from 9-6 (EST) Mon-Fri. So based on that phone call, I knew I would be purchasing the ArtiDiag Pro hands down; I found it here on Amazon‘s TT Topdon Store for a GREAT price! I have received delivery and have tested to see if, in fact, it does control the vent valve; after some time trying to figure out where this option was, I can happily report that this model does control the vent valve, and from what I saw many other options that I was not aware of. I am thrilled that I found a top-notch device for my price range from Topdon and spent my money on a fabulous mid-range scantool that does what I need it to do. Thank you, Topdon and the support rep who gave me an honest suggestion based on my needs and budget.

My husband is a mechanic and absolutely loves this TOPDON ArtiDiag Pro. He uses it all the time and says it’s one of the most useful tools he has. It’s easy to use, works quickly, and gives detailed diagnostic information that helps save time when figuring out problems. The bidirectional functions and all-system scanning make it much more advanced than a basic code reader.
