  • Decent bones for a greenhouse.
Pattern Name: Flat Size: 18.5 x 9.2 ft
I'm using this as a frame for a greenhouse as it's significantly larger than anything else here listed as a greenhouse for the same, or lower quality and price. So far, it works just fine for that purpose. I put it up in about an hour and a half with minimal headache. The included instructions are decent enough, and the parts are marked fairly well. Though I recommend looking everything over carefully before proceeding with the build because I missed a few things on the first few steps and had to backtrack. That' really wasn't a big deal, it's a totally modular setup so even setup wrong, it was still right if that makes sense? NO TOOLS are required to assemble the entire thing, it all snaps together. That is aside from the door, which does require a small, included wrench. It's a LITTLE wobbly, but I haven't anchored it down yet, nor have I added any additional bracing. Both things I plan to do to make it a viable greenhouse. Honestly, IDK if I'd trust it to keep large dogs or other predators away from chickens as advertised though. My dog is an American Pitbull Terrier, about 65 pounds and I doubt it'd keep even her out for very long if she really wanted to get in. Mine is also, like I said currently unanchored and on unleveled ground. If you bolted this to a plywood base or something, It should be more than enough then. No comment yet on the included chicken wire roll or UV cover.. That's all just going in storage until I find a use for it. Seems like pretty standard chicken wire though. I'm sure it's fine. Had this included steaks to anchor it, I'd have given it 5-stars, but it doesn't and I had to get them from Depot. So only 4-stars. For a free-standing, snapped together structure. It's not bad at all. I was sort of impressed really. It DOES include anchoring points in the feet, so that's nice. One less thing to have to make / do. Also, this is NOT the same diameter poles as a standard chain-link fence would have, just so everyone knows and isn't confused. They're about half as wide in their OD, but still fairly thick. Again, I was pleasantly surprised here. I was expecting something much thinner and cheaper TL;DR: Decent greenhouse frame that should have some additional anchoring and support. Don't know that I'd trust it to keep hungry predators away from chickens. ... show more

  • It's not as big as it looks in the photos. I used it as an aviary and had to close off the door.
Pattern Name: Flat Size: 9.2 x 6.2 ft
I joined this 9.5' x 6.5' chicken enclosure with an aviary that was built from wood and wire mesh. It was joined from the back so I had extra chicken wire. Then I laid down a cement outer parameter which I hope will hold it down under strong winds as we do get them here from time to time. "The poles offer a good frame for mist-ers and for hanging perches or toys. I doubled the chicken wire on the top and used 1/4" wire mesh for the walls. I shut off entry of the door as there is a lot of space around the door that I filled with wire. I'm hoping it will keep all my budgies, cockatiels, parrotts and other birds in while keeping out squirrels, opossums, raccoons, skunks but I'm concerned about rats. It added like another room to the wood and wire built aviary and was very complimentary to that structure. Easy to build for someone experienced with building things from kits. NOTE: After 1 year, the tarp completely deteriorated; after 2 yrs, the mesh was in tatters. All due to full sun exposue. Otherwise the frame and construction is very sound. I lined all of it with 1/4" hardware cloth then put chicken wire over the entire structure to hopefully deter rats and mice. Mice got in anyway and are colonizing within the structure. To drive them out, I put scented cotton balls, soaked in peppermint oil and citronella oil. I'll get some corn oil and linseed oil and soak more cotton balls. My parrots have a very weak sense of smell so it's ok for them. Hope it works. We will see. But don't depend on the material coverings. Poor quality and they don't last very long. As is, the pipe material is will made and strong and it lasts forever. I'm also covering it with clear polycarbonate sheeting and plastic sheeting underneath. This allows sunlight and also has UVB protection. Am in the process now and making a gable roof to keep the rain out. Otherwise the rain puddles in the middle. Lots of planning going into this but the pipe structure is sound and workable with 45" metal tubes on angle and 72" long metal tubes on horizontal. Very workable. You'll have to do something about the door though. Large spacing between the door frame and door which allows rats free access. ... show more

  • Been using over a year and still love
We have been using this for over a year now and love it! Tho we did swap the plastic zip ties to metal ones and they definitely hold up better. And the shade on top fell apart quickly. We do recommend putting supports in the run for winter snow load or the roof will cave in we did this by taking 2x4s across the whole length of the top and some going straight to the ground to hold it up . Our neighbors caved in so we put supports in ours before winter and have had no issues. We do clear snow off as needed. I do recommend this run for anyone who has chickens. We love it And it’s very spacious. ... show more
