I searched for a good garden bed sealer and went with this one since it was food contact safe. We plan on using some wooden garden beds this year for veggies and wanted to be sure nothing horrible contaminated the soil. My first order had some issues but customer service with this company is top notch! Jenny was amazing on making sure I had all issues resolved and I’m so thankful for a company who actually responds and makes things right, which is REALLY hard to find. The sealant is super easy to use (I used a sprayer) and dried really fast. Luckily we’ve had some nice breezes to help. The smell is very sweet and strong, so I would recommend a mask. I was able to put on 2 coats with a day of drying time between as directed but honestly I don’t think it takes that long to dry under the right conditions. It gave the wood some life and I’m loving it! The price seems to be fair especially for it being food grade safe. Would def recommend and purchase again!

I used this on a large chicken box which has been turned into a planter, the largest side is 4'. I bought the medium size bottle but could have just gotten the smallest one. It's very watery and was easy to use. I used a good Purdy paint brush and it may not be good for much now but it made the process very smooth with no splashes getting on me that I could see. The smell is intense but it's a sweet wine smell and it didn't make me feel sick and most chemical smells make me sick pretty quick. Your supposed to wipe the wood after applying to get rid of a stickly feeling but I didn't feel like it and saw other reviews that said they didn't think it was needed so I skipped that step. I waited several hours and touched it in a couple of places and it's not sticky at all. I used a large empty pumpkin puree can and it washed out fine. I also left quite a mess on a plastic table outside for several hours and had no problem wiping it off and it didn't hurt the plastic. The only thing I may not be able to use (except for future wood protecting projects) is the paint brush, but it was worth it to me to have a no mess application and not have bristles coming out everywhere.

Was easy to apply and made the wood look nice. However, the smell is pretty overpowering. I used a microfiber cloth to apply the product and once it was done, I thought I could just wash it with my other microfiber cloths. This was a terrible idea. The smell and oil from the one cloth transferred to all the others in the washing machine. I soaked and washed them 4-5 times with baking soda once and vinegar other times and the smell / oil was still present on all the cloths. I ended up throwing them all away. Don’t try to wash this stuff out! Otherwise, it seems to be holding up well on my raised garden bed and protecting the wood.

I bought this to use on a raised bed garden I built for my daughter. Don’t want my grand son growing extra limbs because he ate garden vegetables so I figured I’d go non-toxic. I’ve used the other stuff on my own gardens and haven’t noticed any issues but why take the chance? This covers like most other sealers I’ve used. Went in easy and did a quick wipe down after it dried for about 10-15 minutes. This is supposed to prevent stickiness and I can tell you that I did not experience any stickiness. I really like how it brings out the grain in the cedar. It gives it a ‘wet’ look rather then changing the color. Given that it doesn’t have a distinct tint, I believe it may not offer as much ultraviolet protection but time will tell. I can’t speak to durability yet but I assume it will require a yearly re-application to prevent graying of the wood. I applied the cedar to the cut boards before assembling. I did this outside because there is definitely an odor to it and I wouldn’t recommend doing it in a basement or enclosed space. The smell dissipates over the course of a couple days but it’s there. I assembled after they dried for 24 hours and they were still oily but nothing terrible. After 48 hours, they are pretty dry and should be good to handle the weather now. The bed is 8x4 and is about 16 inches tall. It took about half the bottle to provide one coat of coverage. It seems that one coat should provide pretty good protection. I’m not seeing any spots that seem unprotected and it seems to have covered evenly. Overall, while pricey, I’m pretty happy with it so far. If it protects for at least a year without reapplication, I’ll be happy.

I did a lot of research to come up with plans to build 2 raised garden beds and came across many mentions of this product. I have it a try and am so happy I did. It applies easily and looks great. I really like how it brought out the color of the grain (cedar wood in our case). As other have mentioned, it has a sweet smell - not a toxic smell. Follow the instructions and wipe it down after 5 minutes to keep it from being sticky. We had no stickiness at all. Best of all of course is that it will protect my investment and help the beds look great, all with the assurance that it is same for the veggies we will grow. I found one gallon was enough for 1 coat for two 4’x8’ beds. I applied it to the all sides of the wood after doing the cuts but before assembling. I used 2x6 cedar boards.

The instructions were clear and the product was easy to apply. It even water proofed the water color kids paint I used to do the stencil design and it has been pouring rain for days Yes it does have a strong smell like wine or something, but it smells way better than other brands. I was able to do a whole garden box bed and 4 other pieces of wood. I will see how it holds up through the season. You can mix a stain color with it and it goes on smooth. Don't forget to follow the instructions and wipe it after application or it will be sticky I would purchase again.

I got the garden wood sealer for my garden boxes and it makes the wood a slightly darker color and I'm here for it. The product has a wonderful smell to it and absorbs quickly. I enjoyed using it on my projects and will continue to do so.
