I have had gray hair since I was 18 and I am now 40+ I have had trouble finding colors that aren't too red or gold because it comes off as a weird orangey brown. The color I used is 2N Soft Black, which is what I always used in other Loreal hair dyes (although I will likely try 4N next time because this is just a tad too dark, but not bad for winter!) and it covered every bit of my gray. I have naturally medium chocolate hair and this dye made my hair very dark brown, almost black. It's still beautiful on me but just heads up. Suppose it's going to wash off overtime. I lost a lot of hair during the process but at the end my hair was very soft. I was a little disappointed in this particular Excellence color b/c it did not have good coverage, & when mixing & applying the color it seemed quite weak, unlike all of the other colors of Excellence i have used before.
