Description

The Klein Tools IR07 is a dual IR (infrared) thermometer and probe thermometer. This rugged pocket thermometer measures temperature from -40 to 572-Degrees Fahrenheit (-40 to 400-Degrees Celsius) for both IR and probe measurements. The IR thermometer has a Distance-to-Spot ratio of 8:1 and the target laser can also be used as a laser pointer. The Probe accurately measures air, liquid and surface temps and has a convenient hook for hands free indoor measurements. The IR07 quickly calculates differential temperature (T1-T2) and has a backlit LCD for easy viewing in low light.

This temp probe is my favorite by far I have tried numerous Fieldpiece, UEI, and even a variant of this Klein and this one is by far my favorite. It has a tip that is smaller in diameter of any of the other probes so a lot of times you can remove a screw in the ducting and pop it in right there to get a reading vs having to tap a hole in the duct every time to get your reading. I also like how there aren’t any magnets like a lot of probes have so you have to hold it. Some people would look at this as a downside however a lot of HVAC techs I know have forgotten them in the duct numerous times because while they were waiting for the reading went to check something else and forgot the probe in the duct! All in all it’s less noise, less holes, faster and more accurate readings, not to mention it is a bit more difficult to lose! Worth every penny in my opinion. ... show more

    • Klein Makes GREAT Tools - Another Fine Example - Missing One Little Detail

Over the years, I’ve used a lot of tools that fall into this category. I find that Klein can be called upon when you need a quality tool at a bit higher price. This thermometer is a great tool for taking temperatures for personal or professional use. I use this as my AC Delta T tester to determine the drop across the coils. Most plenums I see today have access ports in them so I’m not going to poke a hole… but, if they don’t, I use the IR to take readings in each of the rooms to try to get a good idea of the delta T. The tool works well and seems to be accurate or at least consistent for sure. Here is where I think Klein missed the boat on this one. It should come with a holster to use with your belt/tool belt. I’ve found an old flashlight holster that I use and it is perfect. I just think that it would be well suited to add that with this kind of a tool that gets carried FAR MORE than used when you are in this kind of a situation. ... show more

This is a great tool. So good, in fact, that the one tiny flaw sticks out… I’m right handed. When I pick up the tool to check temp by IR, I grab the tool and put my thumb on the button, and (D’oh!) the temp reading is upside down. Then I see that it’s perfect for when you use the probe. Oh wait… Well I end up holding it by the button, with my hand turned over so I can see under my thumb. I don’t know what to suggest, at all. It’s nice and simple, as is. Anything I suggest will increase the cost. I only mention because I keep hitting the same thing every time I go to use it. I’d love a button, or a magic sensor, that would flip the display. First world problems… 🤦♂️ ... show more

I have many Klein Tools. Love the quality. That’s why I paid $50 for this combination instant read probe & IR thermometer. It’s works very well. Did not need temp adjustment as it’s right on temp. We all fry stuff with oil too hot. You shouldn’t be over 400, and not under 350. If your oil is smoking, it’s too hot or wrong oil! It’s hard to know on even a good stove or grill. I guess if you have induction burners you can keep oil temp at or below 400F. Anyway most need this tool to know for sure. One nitpicking fact tho. It’s left handed! Yes if you use your right hand to measure temp either probe or IR the display will be upside down. I am VERY right handed, thus uncoordinated left, so I find that annoying. You’d think Klein engineers would have programmed a setting where you can change that readout. My Thermapen MK4 screen rotates as you move it. Idea for a revision “B” Klein Tools engineers (no charge) ... show more

I work residential hvac and this is always in my pocket while I’m at work. Relatively quick reading. Big lit display. Simple design and it turns on and off automatically when opened and closed. I would like to see a magnet or a better clip on it. It tends to fall out of ceiling registers unless I clip it in just right. Over all great product though. ... show more
