  • Accurate, cheap, & effective.
Style: Classic Color: Yellow
I don't use this for food, but it's fun to take the temperature of electronics and important to know when it's more hot than it should be. Seems accurate and it's easy to use.

  • Does what it's meant to do. Easy to use. Lightweight.
Style: Classic Color: Yellow
This is the second one of these I have purchased, it works well for my purposes which is to check the basking area(s) for out reptiles, and verify oven temp. I'm please that it now takes AA batteries rather than the 9 volt it used to use. It's lightweight, fits in my hand (average female) nicely. It's easy to use, you pull the trigger and the gun does the rest. The reading come up quickly. As far as durability... Well, I wouldn't suggest bouncing it off a wall or the floor but with normal use it should last for years, my last one did. ... show more

Seem to work pretty good and easy to use. I use it to check the oil temperature in my hubs/ axle on trailer. Hopefully get to use it more on other things also good price compared to the $40 one I purchased at O'Reilly which I returned after purchasing this one from amazon

  • Versatile and Accurate
Style: Classic Color: Yellow
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been using the Etekcity Infrared Thermometer for about four months, and it’s been far more useful than I expected. I first bought it to locate an indoor draft, but quickly found myself using it for all kinds of things, a big one being to check the concrete temperature before walking my dog in the summer, or verifying that my fridge and oven are running at the right temps, and even spot-checking my griddle surface. The readings are fast and appear very accurate, showing consistent results across different surfaces. It’s lightweight, easy to use, and feels well-built. If you’re looking for a reliable, no-fuss temperature gun that’s useful for far more than just cooking, this one’s an excellent choice. ... show more

  • This is a lot more fun than it should be
Style: Classic Color: Black
I have had a blast with this thing right out of the box! First and foremost, it is not a medical device, don't take your or somebody else's temperature with it. That's a completely different type of thermometer. This is a highly functioning tool and you should use it as such. Having said that and after taking the temperature of my TV, streaming stick, etc., I do a lot of crafting and have a couple of different heat presses. One of them I'm sure is malfunctioning and has a lot of cold spots. Only way I could prove it was to video taking its temperature set at 400°F. I had a friend calibrate this so she's true. Sure enough, the temperature varied from 359-419°F set at 385°F. I've contacted the company to get warranty support for a replacement. I also use a convection oven to do some other crafting and again getting the right temperature is important. I have an oven thermometer in it but it was saying it was a lot hotter. This guy said it was right on the money. It came with batteries, easy grip, nice looking lightweight and now my new best friend checking my oven temperature to make sure it's not too hot or too cold when I'm baking something. The read speed is almost instantaneous it's so quick. It doesn't store temperatures but do you really need it too? Probably the best money I've spent on Amazon in a long time! ... show more

  • Great for checking hot spots!
Style: Classic Color: Yellow
This thermometer has made reptile care much easier. I use it every day to confirm that my heat mat and ceramic heat emitter are staying in the right range. It is lightweight and simple to operate and the numbers are easy to read. I like that I can check multiple surfaces quickly without disturbing my snake. Fantastic value for reptile owners. ... show more

  • Excellent & Inexpensive
Style: 1 Laser Color: Yellow
Product: Etekcity Lasergrip 800 Digital Infrared Thermometer Gun Rating: 4.5 of 5 (excellent) I cook a lot with cast iron flat griddles, both small and large ... a surface wholly unsuited for corded digital temperature probes, because at the sort of temperatures they’re most commonly used at (450-600F) if the droopy cord connecting the probe to the sensor touches the surface for anything longer than a brief instant, it’s toast, and you have to buy a new one. I’ve ruined several probes that way over the years, and it rapidly becomes annoying. To date, my favorite solution by far is one of the latest generation hand-held wireless Infrared Sensor Guns like the Etekcity Lasergrip 800, which cost me an extremely reasonable and affordable $25 usd in 2017. Anytime I heat a pot of oil for deep-frying, or use a saucier to reduce braising liquid into a thick sweet glaze, or if I use my griddles for things like making Lebanese mountain bread, homemade tortillas, quesadillas, pancakes, fermented dosa crepes, pressed sandwiches (paninis & tortas), burgers, steaks, bacon, blackened fish, eggs, et al., the Etekcity 800 is incredibly handy for rapidly spot-checking the temperature status of your griddle (so you can finesse it accordingly), and also finding any patterns of uneven heating that occur in your setup {TIP: CI is a poor thermal conductor, therefore the slower you heat it, the more evenly it heats}. Different foods like different temperatures too. For example, I like to work at around 500-550F when searing off freshly stretched mountain bread (see photo), which is very thin, and prone to overcooking if your griddle/plancha is too hot. Things like crepes and dosas are even more temperature sensitive, and a thermal gun is indispensable for helping you to stay in the ideal temp range, for significantly better results and less food waste. Likes: * Ergonomic: It’s very fast (under 1 sec), accurate (+/- 2%), lightweight (4 oz), easy to use (very simple and intuitive - reading the manual is purely optional), easy to read, and has a thermal range (-58F to +1382F) that fully covers all my needs, and with plenty of room to spare. * Battery: The specs list 14hrs of cumulative runtime per 9v battery, which is more than enough to last you a year or more, even with regular daily use. * Sensor Aperture: This unit features a sensor with a nice high DSR rating of 16:1 (read: tight aperture), meaning if you hold it at the recomended distance of 14.17 inches, the circular diameter of the region being sensed centered on the siming dot is 1/16th of that, or roughly 0.88 inch (about midway in size between a Nickel and a Quarter). Minor Nits: * Battery (-1/2 star): I’m a big believer in eco-friendly rechargeable, but the designers of this gun opted for a 9v battery design, which while great for low-draw devices like smoke detectors is easily my least favorite, and least efficient formats when it comes to rechargeables. Although there may be some valid technical reasons for the 9v use, I really wish they’d gone with 3.7v 18650’s instead, or perhaps 1.2v AAAs, both of which are highly friendly to low-self-discharge 1000+ cycle rechargeables, and are easily available. * Sensor Reticle (-1/2 star): First, some disambiguation - although this product prominently mentions “laser” in the name, it only uses the laser to provide a single bright dot (your aiming reticle) so you can see where you’re pointing the sensor - the laser is NOT the actual sensing mechanism, nor does the diameter of the dot reflect the diameter of the region being sensed, which many may find confusing or unintuitive. A better pointer design would be a laser ring (multiple dots), instead of a singular dot, with the diameter of the ring matching the DSR rating of the sensor aperture, so that you can see EXACTLY the size of the area being sensed at any given range. Despite these 2 minor nits, I still highly recommend this device, which has become one of my top 10 favorite culinary tools in my kitchen. ... show more
