This is such an upgrade from the cheap pharmacy head one that we had. I was skeptical at first but Braun a worth the price if you want something accurate. I did a lot of research and didn't want to end up with another cheap thermometer like we had. It's great that it comes with some of sensor covers already and I can buy extras very easily. It's also battery operated (comes with it). Love this thermometer. I have tried a ton of different kinds and always come back to this one. It’s very consistent in the readings and comfortable to use and has different modes of readings from infants to babies and adults and saves the last couple of them in each mode used. Very nice.

I love this thermometer. Always seems to be advertised more for infants, but it is my go-to for the entire family. I had a Braun ear thermometer from 20 years ago, that I was still using this past week for myself, but the button to press to get a reading was needing some extra pressure to make it work. Not bad for having something for 20 years! That is why I remain with Braun. I love that the lens filters I bought with the old one still work with this one. I am still able to buy them at the box stores if needed. Another selling point but probably will buy extra lens filters online to save myself the trouble. I did see a review where someone mentioned they wish it was rechargeable. Having kids in college now and much experience in checking for fevers over the years, I do not mind the AA batteries for this. It is not something you use every week and if the batteries go low you want a temp reading quick. Trying to charge something in a pinch is not my choice. I always have AA batteries around if needed. Older models have those flat batteries and I can tell you it is no fun digging around to find spares on those, or going to a store that may or may not have the flat batteries when you kid has a fever. I also love that the holding case lets you put the lens covers in the holder with the thermometer. No digging around. It is all right there. Only super minor thing I would fix is that when I tried to pull the thermometer out of the holder, I was pulling from the TOP near the lens. I thought it was wedged it, but it was not. You need to pull it out of the holder from about 3/4 of the way down, and the thermometer easily pulls out. The diagram did not really describe it well. I know a small thing, but in a pinch at 2am good for a parent to not need to figure that out for the first time. My ONLY suggestion to Braun would be to put a couple of arrows on the body of holder with arrows saying "Pull here". Like I said, if you pull at the top it will not come out. I know super minor, but a nice helpful touch. Great product though! I would recommend it. ... show more

I LOVE Braun thermometers. This is my second one I’ve owned, the first was the thermoscan 5, and I only purchased this one because we needed one at 2 separate houses and this one also has the option to pick the age of the person you’re temp checking. These are EXTREMELY accurate and will always win over forehead thermometers. They last forever and you definitely get your moneys worth from them. I love the backlit reading screen so you don’t have to turn lights on and wake your sick child to see the temp. I also love the ear covers so it prevents spreading germs across multiple kids. ... show more

This Braun thermometer works great. It is easy to use and I love that it can be used for people of all ages. I can use it on my two year old or myself and know that I will get an accurate reading through the different setting. I also enjoy the ability to go back and see previous temperatures.

I’m a family medicine physician. We needed a personal thermometer at home when caring for our kids, and we replaced a forehead thermometer with this one. The forehead version was simply inaccurate - it gave too much variation from minute-to-minute, and sometimes read temperatures over 105, which I knew weren’t accurate. Small children often run high temperatures into the 103-104 range in the evenings when fevers tend to be at their highest, but a reasonably playful and active child simply won’t have a temp of 105 or higher, so I lost any confidence in the other one. It also provoked a lot of unnecessary anxiety for my wife. This version is consistent and appears to be accurate after quite a number of uses, and it’s very easy to use. I would definitely recommend it over the forehead version we had previously, and a reliable and consistent thermometer is worth the money to me. ... show more

When my original thermometer stopped working, I needed a new one and as I am a big fan of Braun brand, I went with this model Thermoscan 7 Ear. It's very easy to use by setting age range of individual and then came with disposable ear protection inserts. Do keep in mind you first have to select the age range before measuring. It wasn't a deal breaker for us, as it took a second to measure. Very accurate and simple to read. Batteries last a while. Very lightweight and easy to carry on the go if needed. It also lights up different colors depending on temperature level to indicate if fever is present. If there was something I could improve about this product I would change regular batteries to USB charging. That would make it convenient and simple for many parents. Otherwise, an excellent investment and well worth the value. I would recommend this! ... show more
