I have used Eureka vacuums for the last 20 years because they were better than Hoover in the same price range. But Eureka has lost it's edge in recent years. This Kenmore had really good reviews so i decided to try, and am not disappointed in the least. It has an excellent filtration system that cleans easily, unlike anything i have used before, and does not slow down the air flow much. Excellent suction and air flow, the best i've seen for a budget cleaner. The best feature of all, and the main reason i bought this is the self cleaning brush roll. It really is as good as they say. I have a great Pyrennes dog which produces 4" long hair, lots of it. That hair will wrap around a brushroll and need to be cleaned in minutes with a vacuum without this feature. Not so with this vacuum, i no longer have to remove the brushroll and clean several times while vacuuming. I can now clean in the matter of 10 minutes what it took and hour previously, and does a much better job. The large dirt cup is also a plus. It is also lightweight making the job of pushing it around about as easy as it gets. A+++++ all the way. Two features i wish it had though is an automatic cord rewind, and the ability to turn the brushroll off. ... show more

I'm old and live in a small place. I needed an inexpensive vacuum that was light, easy to push and had good suction. I tried a bottom of the line at another manufacturer, but it did not have a height adjustment and it stuck to the floor when I turned it on. NOT GOOD. The second was not good. So, I ordered this Kenmore. When the package came, I noticed the weight was substantial without being heavy, good start. The machine is easy to put together, easy to use, has a height adjustment and it sucks. More good signs. Strong, easy, light enough is just what I wanted. The wand extension is an interesting part. It has an adjustable nozel that has a release so it can convert from narrow to brush to open. I love it. The "hair" brush off attachment suction driven and has a little rotating brush inside operated by a rubber band, that wasn't working. There are a bunch of parts inside that aren't attached to anything. When I opened it a pile of parts fell onto the table. It took my shaky hands an hour to figure out gmhow to put it back together. There are a couple other improvements that could be made for ergonomics and convenience. There is only 1 clip for tool storage. It's supposed to clip onto the handle and the tool clips into the clip it doesn't work and won't hold the extension or any tool conveniently. So the attachments can't be stored on the machine. The chord position means I have to bend way over to to wind the chord onto the holder. My back doesn't like that . Over all it's a nice machine and I recommend it. NOTE: I bought the extended warranty. There were some complaints about ability, so I paid the extra 15 bucks for peace of mind, in case it dies in 6 months. ... show more

This Kenmore vacuum cleaner is well designed, nicely constructed, easy to assemble, clean, and operate. Disposing of the crud is especially easy - thank goodness. The feature "with or without the rotating brush roller" is especially handy when you want to vacuum something but not beat it up with the roller. I am replacing my Shark NV400 - which is a hard to beat extinct vacuum. This one caught my eye solely b/c it "looked" like my Shark. So I decided to give it a try after purchasing a few other's which failed to meet my needs. My "must" have's were low DB's and a hose which was separate of the handle (which have become hard to find). My con's first - the cord is short (25ft) compared to my Shark (30ft). The hose attachment is hard to remove and does NOT have a second hard piece attachment for length. There is only 1 spot to place an extra attachment - but the vacuum comes with 5 attachment pieces. The sole attachment spot fails to hold the attachment in place. It constantly falls off. A bit bulkier - and a little heavier than the Shark. The hose is awkward - wraps in a weird direction/place and comes out of the holding track when in use. DB's are louder than my Shark - I have yet to find a vacuum comparable to the low DB's of the Shark NV400. The pro's: the suction is strong - comparable or exceeds the Shark when it was new. Large 14 in head with swivel maneuverability - more stable than the Shark. Stong self-propelled pull - deep clean. I love a vacuum that has an independent hose - and the extra attachments offered are really nice. I've given a 3 star rating for the con's given however I am keeping this vacuum after having purchased numerous others including a Simplicity. The noise level is higher but not as bad as other's I have tried out. The power of this bagless vacuum and the medium noise level, along with the fact that is offered an independent hose sealed the deal for me. ... show more
