I have used Eureka vacuums for the last 20 years because they were better than Hoover in the same price range. But Eureka has lost it's edge in recent years. This Kenmore had really good reviews so i decided to try, and am not disappointed in the least. It has an excellent filtration system that cleans easily, unlike anything i have used before, and does not slow down the air flow much. Excellent suction and air flow, the best i've seen for a budget cleaner. The best feature of all, and the main reason i bought this is the self cleaning brush roll. It really is as good as they say. I have a great Pyrennes dog which produces 4" long hair, lots of it. That hair will wrap around a brushroll and need to be cleaned in minutes with a vacuum without this feature. Not so with this vacuum, i no longer have to remove the brushroll and clean several times while vacuuming. I can now clean in the matter of 10 minutes what it took and hour previously, and does a much better job. The large dirt cup is also a plus. It is also lightweight making the job of pushing it around about as easy as it gets. A+++++ all the way. Two features i wish it had though is an automatic cord rewind, and the ability to turn the brushroll off. ... show more

This is exactly what it says it is! It picks up dog hair like crazy ! AND definatley leaves no hair around brush! YOU will find this is a small but very mighty vacuum. It is very light weight, love that. Moves with ease . Ohhh and that swivel design NICE! IT gets where my other vacuum didn't with ease ! IT is smaller than other vacuum heads BUT makes up for that with the power it has, ( and i didnt think it had much suction ! WRONG) The proof was on the carpet and in the canister !! The sound is much quiter than most upright vacuums another great feature .I love the no bag design as well ! I dont mind emptying it out and cleaning the canister . The reason for 4 stars , there is no place to add the upholstery cleaner part , and the hose is very short, even when you add the extender . IT is a great value for what this vacume does . It was easy to put together, and very easy to release the canister to empty it . BUT remember it will be very dirty . you will have to clean it ! I dont care how many times i have to empty it , it's so worth it from the amout it vacuums up. Oh just to let everyone reading this ( I researched and bought this Vaccume ) It is a great value for what you pay .. It's really tought today i know for many so many of us look for a great value for the money. Cheap has nothing to do with it , Its called quality of the product and the name Kenmore ! ... show more

So after much research ( I'm an over researcher, lol) I settled on this Kenmore, 5yrs ago. It actually still runs, but there's a short somewhere, when you tilt it right, the brush roll stops, vacuum motor stays going though. So decided after 5yrs, maybe try a cordless. Found one with great reviews, so gave it a go. After thoroughly being disappointed with battery life, suction and how it was just top heavy, sent it back. Tried another model of Kenmore, the mint green one. When I pulled it out of box, should've known and just packed up right away, cheap plastic handle bar and no swivel, sorry, but once you've experienced that, I just cant go back to non swivel, lol. Anyway, decided to still give it a try, other cons were, no switch for just suction, and maybe it's just me, but I like when the brush roll stops, when you lock upright, which this didn't do. So what I thought was just a nice color change, was a cheaply made model change as well, sent back. So lesson learned. Ordered the exact same I got 5yrs ago, man was I glad. The overall power it has, the swivel, the led light, brushroll switch. This unit, for the money, which I got on a great flash sale, is one of the best out there. Definitely recommend this one. If Kenmore sees this, would love some hepa and motor filter replacements, lol. ... show more

Update: Sept 2025 I had to update this review from 2-star to 1-star. My original review is below for the record. This vacuum is the absolute worst. After just a few weeks it became very hard to push. So now find myself (almost everytime I want to use) having to take off the mini wheels on it to get the hair and dust out of the wheels so I can push it. Furthermore the roller brush jams so easily and only seems to work manually - meaning it doesnt auto spin anymore from the vacuum despite me again cleaning it. I'm giving up and after just a few months placing it in the trash this week Original Review Ordered this recently for our new carpet as our Oreck didnt cut it and was hard to push. To be clear we had a 8lb padding and an average to slightly above average high pile carpet installed so it was definitely thicker than what was there, but its not huge. The vacuum, overall, is just ok. The suction could be better but its pretty good. But the problems with this vacuum are more in the inherent design. Short cord. Cord falls out of its "holder" on a very frequent basis meaning next thing you know you are getting stuck on it. The attached hose doesnt have much power at all and that item also has its "holder" detach from the vacuum so you regularly get stuck on that as well. The ability to make the vacuum swivel/come towards you also is hard to operate. Overall I give this vacuum a measly 2 stars. It does the job I guess, but if you do a lot of vacuuming, I wouldn't recommend it at all ... show more
