I got this as a replacement for a chicken coop door that stopped working. My previous one was a little more expensive and worked well for over a year. This one is made with similar construction and materials but a little fancier. It has a nice LCD readout that gives all the controls. It can be opened or closed based on a set time or based on light level. The light level has to be set on a range from 0-23. There is no instruction or recommendations on what numbers to use if you want it to open at sunrise and close when it gets dark. It recommends using the time setting to open and close which is fine. That just requires some adjustments now and then to adjust for the length of day changing. The settings on this are very easy to change and are very straight forward. It also comes with two remotes that look like car fabs. The door itself can be powered from AA batteries, a supplied wall transformer or from batteries and a solar panel (not included). The door operates smoothly and quietly and has a sensor to protect chickens from getting squished if they're in the doorway when its time to close. Just installed this door after removing a different automatic door. The problem was the other door was very complicated to program and we never seemed to get it right. This on is easier and more reliable. The remote is great to use, especially in the morning when the ladies need to outside. We love it! ... show more
