Canvas blocks the correct amount of light and allows enough wind to pass through though water WILL pass through as well. The texture makes it difficult to install because it won't slide easily on surfaces, guide ropes or on itself when it overlaps. But once installed with hard anchors or screw stakes, it was fine. The stakes it came with are only slightly more than shish kabob tooth picks. They are terrible. Plan on getting some good, screw stakes if this isn't for a permanent install because this will catch quite a bit of wind. ... show more

I bought a few of these to shadey pool here in Texas. They true block alot of the suns rays and reflect heat too. The sails themselves do not radiate heat either . It's preventing a lot of evaporation from my pool as well. I recommend getting one if your looking to cut back on the sun while outside.

I purchased this a couple of months before I actually hung it. I took it to the Dominican Republic and put it outside on the beach in our little restaurant. At 1st It provided beautiful shade, was pretty simple to install. Withstood the windy conditions Stretched a little bit but tightened it up and it was OK Now it’s been hanging for nine weeks and I noticed that the sun is starting to come through. I guess it’s fading a little bit. It’s still good when The sun is not too strong, but when the sun is that is highest in the sky, it doesn’t provide shade nearly as good as an umbrella. A bit disappointing Hoping it doesn’t fade anymore than this I am now putting umbrellas underneath it at the tables ... show more

Just put it up so I’m not sure how long it will last or in the rain, but seems very durable. I have some adjustments to make to maximize the shade, but I’m definitely happy with it. I will be buying another for the other side of my deck. The rope they send with it works, but I bought sun shade/sail rope from Amazon (thinking I would need long lengths), inexpensive and seems like better quality. Good buy, way better coverage then a umbrella and way cheaper. And looks cool. I bought some snap hooks also to keep on sail all the time to make putting it up and taking down very quick. ... show more

The material is stout and well made, just like Stipe Miocic. It blocks the sun and makes the deck noticeably cooler (which is what a sunshade should do come on). The setup was easy and straight forward as well. Overall we love the shade and would highly recommend it. This thing never lets us down.
