From reviews and friends I knew the Juicebox was a great option for home EV charging. The only complaint I had was around the setup. I downloaded the Enel X app and repeatedly tried unsuccessfully to connect to my WiFi. After spending significant time trying to connect, I called customer service. The first few times I receive an "all lines are busy" message within 5-10 seconds of connecting. Eventually, I got through to a support technician and she was able to connect the Juicebox to my WiFi. Turns out I needed a different app, Enel X JuiceNet. Now that everything is configured I am very happy with the product. ... show more

    • Consider this one if you just got an EV

Self-install is not difficult if you already have a 50A 220V outlet. Only complaint is they make it very difficult (i.e. warranty canceling difficult) to wire directly to a junction box (instead of using their included 3' long 1" diameter "flexible" cable.) Get an electrician to help. Charge cable is very long, quite large in diameter (due to the high current), but very flexible so we don't have any issues with it. There is a "generic" (?) app available. If your EV doesn't give you the ability to control WHEN you charge (after midnight for cheapest kW hours), then JuiceBox says you will need to download "their" app (Enel X Way). The app seems to be a "general purpose" EV charger app designed to help you find charging stations (and use their "Enel X Way Card"?). If you need to set the charge schedule using JuiceBox then you are stuck using the app. I set the JuiceBox to always charge, deleted the app and we are using our EV to set the (nighttime) charging schedule. ... show more

Overall, it charges quickly and I've been happy with it. Minor point: it should have come with a cap for the charger for times when you don't want to plug it back into the wall unit.

I got this to charge my Chevy Bolt EV at home. The build quality is tremendous, especially compared to the portable cord that came with the car. I have had no basic charging issues at all. 40 amps is overkill for the Bolt, which draws 32 max, but 48 would be better for the next car, whatever that might be. The app and 'smart features' are a bit disappointing. The app has a page for my car which appears to tell me the charge level, which is something it cannot know and obviously doesn't. It would be better if it just showed me how much energy had been added since it was plugged in. The charging graphs are really helpful, but you cannot scale or zoom in on them, and calibration of the x-axis (time) is always wonky. Most annoying, and this could just be pilot error on my part, is that I can't find a way to turn on the smart charging feature automatically. I can configure it, and I can turn it on once the car has been plugged in, but I can't get it to automatically limit the car to charge only during non-peak hours. Weird. Overall, the products pretty good does its job yes, the app doesn’t work correctly for Brand new RAV4 Prime and emails and calls to “customer” service have been futile for almost a week. Additionally, the whip for hard wire install should be set up with a 90 degree angle connector.

The mobile app provide no time controls for its graphs. You’ll notice my first pic is a perfect graph of my charging time - great! The second graph shows where I plugged in my car at night but didn’t want it to start charging until the following morning - it plotted the entire time! The app provides no way of “zooming in” on the actual charge time to see the detail. I contacted support and all they said was, “You’re correct. The app can’t do that but the website can.” It would have been nice to at least hear, “I’ll pass that along to our app team so they can consider it for future upgrades.” The JuiceBox is also reading voltage, currency, amperage … the app should allow for seeing the history and graphs for all those variables.     • OK so far, but missing features make it not so smart

This is my third EV charger. My seven year old ClipperCreek is still going strong, and the Grizzl-E units that I owned failed twice. Install was fairly easy for a hardwired unit, the wiring and whip are high quality. Getting the unit on to the wall mount was ridiculously difficult, the screws that hold the wall mount to the unit have to be set just right, and should be done before mounting the bracket to the wall. Issues with configuration: I tried to register via my email address several times, but never received the confirmation email. I ended up using the Apple Sign In service. Configuring WiFi went well. The app has some major issues, as it will not retain my home address, and will not fetch the local utility information. This cripples several of the smart features, such a TOU rates. There's no owner's manual included or available online that I've been able to find. There's a large status light bar, but what do the lights signify? If only there were a way to document that. I'm holding on to the shipping box. I'm not sure the value is here as a "smart charger" with so many missing features. It may be going back. ... show more

I am ABSOLUTELY shock as to why it took over 2 months for this company to figure out why, after 4 devices sent to my house, to get it to work properly! I spent hours on the phone and emails sent to customer support. To not only have their customer support need to reach out for support and it truly was very disappointing each time the replacement was installed, to have to the device NOT WORK! Well, I am glad to have the patience needed, since my wife wanted to rip this device off the wall and get a full refund! I am just pleased now that I am able to use the app and view all the specific details during and after the vehicle is charged!!! So buyers of this product make sure you have a strong wifi signal or use an extender, since that was the solution for my situation. Good luck to all those who take this journey on being GREEN with their full electric or hybrid vehicles!!!! ... show more
