  • Easy to install
The device was easy to install since I already had 220 power in my garage. I had a 30 amp breaker for my existing 220 power but the wires were large enough to accommodate a 40 amp breaker which is needed for this charger. Changed the breaker and installed a plug receptacle to match the plug-in cord associated with the juice box 32 charger, hung the box to the wall mount and it was ready to go. We have been using the device to charge our plug in hybrid for three weeks with no problems. ... show more

  • Great at charging but the app is horrible
This was a hard one for me to review. If all you want to do is charge your electric vehicle then this is a great five-star product. I am getting the full 32 amps and between 7.6 and 7.9 KW of charging all the time when I'm using it. So it's doing exactly as advertised in that respect. But it comes advertised and promoted with its app. And the app is terrible. It doesn't even know my car's battery size even though it has the correct car for me to pick in the app. I had to go into their website and manually enter my car's battery size and a few other things about my vehicle. In addition the app doesn't integrate with your car software or app so you have to manually enter your starting charge state and then it just guesses how much juice it needs to put into your battery to make it full if you're using the app to charge it up. By the way I have a 2022 Chevy bolt EV. My car already does all this stuff and it does it well. They really need to be more specific in their description about how their app works with this charger and your vehicle. My electric utility doesn't offer any charging rates related to time so I'm not sure how that feature would work on this product since I can't use that part of it. I did get a $500 rebate for my utility for purchasing this unit so it really only cost me about 70 bucks so that was a good deal. It was on their list of preferred chargers for their rebate program. Time will tell if this is a long-lasting product. I plan on keeping my car for at least the next 6 to 10 years so based on its battery size and my charging needs that's why I bought this unit. I use the my Chevy app to set a departure time and that controls when the charging starts and completes. So when I need to charge I just plug it in and the car starts charging when it needs to to be done by the time I specified in the my Chevy app. It would be really nice if the juice box software could do that without me having to manually enter anything into the software every time about my car's current battery level. Electric vehicle manufacturers and charging manufacturers really need to take a lesson from Google with their Google Home products and just make them work with everything no matter who manufactured it. That would make things so much easier for consumers if there was just a standard that all vehicles and charging manufacturers used for these basic features that are standard on all modern electric vehicles and chargers. ... show more

  • Install outlet below Juicebox, if charger doesn't stay holstered, call customer service
I got the plug-in version of Juicebox, and it was easy to install on the wall. I had two issues: 1) I had arranged for the outlet to be installed prior to the Juicebox arriving, and when the Juicebox arrived the cord did not reach the outlet (which was directly above the Juicbox, see 1st photo, I know it looks like it reaches, but its like an inch or two short and you have to put a lot of stress on the cord to get it that close). This required me to call the electricians back and have them reroute the outlet to below the Juicebox, which ended up being an added expense. I talked to the customer service folks and they stated that UL required them to keep the cord a certain length, and that it used to be longer, so its not something they can help it appears. For what its worth, it would probably benefit from a future redesign where the cord can come out of the center of the box rather than the bottom, to ensure maximum capability to reach an outlet nearby, regardless of its location. 2) The "gun" part of the charger doesn't stay in the "holster". There's a small rectangular hole in the top of the "holster" for a hook on the "gun" to clip into (see 2nd photo). But on the charger I received the hook didn't fall into that hole (hard to see, but see 3rd photo). As such, if you brushed up against the charger it would fall out. I contacted customer service, and they stated this was a known problem and they are sending me out a new plastic backing that I can put on the charger that will fix the problem. Customer service was very easy to talk to and appeared on the ball. ... show more

  • Works reasonably well, but a bit pricey for what you get
I needed a level 2 charger for my new plug-in hybrid electric car. Normally I would have purchased a far less expensive product, but the State (NJ) offered a $250 rebate for this model due to its smart-charge features. The product has reasonable quality and the locking mechanism to deter theft of the charger is a nice feature, as is the 25' cord. The instructions are worthless and functionality of the application is a little clunky (which is why I removed one star). As I install time-of-day electric discount billing, the Smart feature will be worthwhile (e.g. tell the charger to start charging at 1 minute past midnight to take advantage of the lower rates). ... show more

  • App didn't work
I give it two stars for being a heavy-duty box with massive cables, and a decent cable management arrangement. However, I could never connect to my wifi even after hours of re-installing the software and trying to connect to a couple of different wifi channels we have. I tried calling tech support... "Due to the recent heavy volume of calls... " etc. I doubt they could help anyway, since the connection process is not that complicated, and I followed it precisely (and tried a few variations to see if anything else worked). Since you can't configure anything on this box without wifi, and I couldn't connect, and even if I could, I'm not sure I would trust it anyway, given some of the other reviews, it's being returned. ... show more
