  • Please read - will save you time, a headache and you’ll be less likely to leave a bad review
I’ve had this thermal printer for about 2 months and I feel like that is long enough to give an adequate assessment and offer useful insight and tips as well. Depending on what platform you sell on will set the tone for your experience, as I understand some selling platform’s shipping labels are auto generated to the standard 8.5”x11” printing size. I sell over a few different platforms and so found out the hard way, mostly through trial and error but also thanks to “Thecollegepicker” on YouTube. If your labels are printing too light, you’ll have to go in and adjust the settings as follows “Printer”>Printing Preferences>Page setup and you’ll see options to adjust “speed” and “darkness” - you can adjust speed to 6 and darkness to 8 or to your preference or needs. If your labels are coming out too small you’ll want to see if you can change the sizing to 4”x6” from the platform that sent you the shipping label but if you’re unable to do that; download Adobe Acrobat reader. It’s free. Now open your PDF file with adobe. Make sure your label is in its proper orientation (vertical) other wise when you attempt to print it, your label will come out blank. Do this by going to the “Rotate View” tab and clicking counter clockwise until your label is in its proper position. After ensuring your label is in it’s proper orientation you’re going to want to “Take a snapshot”. You do this by going to the “Edit” tab; select the “More” option and then select “Take a snapshot”. After selecting “Take a snap shot” go to your label and left click while dragging to have label selected. Hit the print icon right above the label, it should bring up the “Print” menu. Go to “Page Setup” at the bottom. In the “Size” box make sure it reads 4”x6”; if not adjust accordingly. Make sure the orientation is “Portrait”. If not adjust accordingly, hit “OK” and then “Print”. I’ve found out that if your label file is not sized to correct 4”x6”, your labels will print improperly or just not print at all. I went through so many labels figuring this out so even tho this device comes with extra labels, get your own as you’ll go through a ton of them until your able to master this learning curve. I’m pretty tech savvy but even this little device threw me for a loop initially because what the device manual does not consider is that not all prepaid label files are automatically sized to the 4”x6” printing size requirement across ALL selling platforms and this can cause a host of issues. You’ll think it’s your device when it’s not, it will be as simple as just resizing your label. ... show more

  • It's alright
Now, when I bought it, I bought it on sale. So I would definitely think it's worth the money for what I paid for it- about 80$ USD total. Occasionally it makes an unusable label due to a slight misalignment in printing, but it hasn't been too much of a huge deal for me to get annoyed with it for such a cheap printer. I'm just sure to buy the blank labels in bulk so it feels like less of a waste with how much money I spend per label. I use this to print labels I buy for my orders on sites like Etsy, and I would say that considering how much I ship per week, how much I've saved with online shipping discounts and the fact I don't have to pay for ink- this thing has definitely paid for itself already just after a month of owning it. It's easy to use- the hardest part was figuring out how to print things that aren't already formatted for 4x6 printers, but that's an issue with sites like USPS, not the printer, so I'm not really gonna hold that against it. And Etsy has an option for 4x6 printers, so that's fine. Maybe there's better thermal printers out there, but until this one breaks, I'm satisfied with it. ... show more

  • Great for the basics
Started selling stuff online a few years ago, would print out or write down labels one by one. I bought this once I started getting larger amounts of orders last year and it instantly paid for itself for the amount of time and money I saved on ink. I have had a few issues with it during the time I had it but were mostly user error. I did have to call their customer support at one point thinking I would need a replacement and they were very helpful and helped me fix the error. I just came upon a new problem that I saw a few people here ran into but did not get an answer to, my printer was flashing purple and beeping. The online manual only mentions it flashing blue or red, not purple. I moved its location recently and switched around the cables, I was using the wrong power cable which did not have enough watts. Once I connected the correct power cable, it started working again like normal. ... show more

  • Time saver!!
After 6 months of use I don't know why I did not buy this Jiose J500 label maker before now. It saves me so much time and money. NO more expensive ink cartridges or knock-off ink cartridges that don't work. NO ink - EVER!! This past week or so I have been having printing issues with eBay's bulk shipping labels. It worked for 6 months great - now it was trying to print 2 labels per sheet instead of one label per 4x6 sheet. Also the PDF file going to the printer from eBay was a 8-1/2 x 11 sheet, not 4 x 6. The paper size in my "printer preferences' was set to 4x6 but the J500 did not print like it was a 4x6. I messaged Jiose support and ask for help. They immediately called me back and spent close to a half an hour trying to solve my label problem. Come to find out, the error was totally on eBay. When using "bulk shipping" you MUST select the 4x6 paper size for your printer BEFORE you "confirm and pay" for the multiple labels. This paper size selection is in a drop down menu - very much unnoticeable. Once you pay for the labels you cannot change the paper size on your printer. My paper selection on eBay's "confirm and pay" page had mysteriously changed (imagine that) and the PDF file sent to the printer by eBay was for a 8-1/2 x 11 paper, not 4x6. Now that I have it changed to the correct paper size of 4x6 on eBay's side it is again working great. Thanks so much to the seller for all the help. A+ all the way. ... show more

  • Was fantastic until computer upgrade
I have had this printer for just about 4 years now. It has been great until recently days. I bought a new computer and now the USB for set up doesn't connect to the new computer. I've been trying it for about an hour now. I pulled it out of the port and it was so got, smelled like it was melting. I don't want to have to buy a new one but I have a feeling USB 2.0 just won't do it on the new tech. ... show more
