I’ve been buying and self installing home computers, printers, and networks for over 35 years. It’s not my first rodeo. This one is a nightmare. First, there’s the Subscription scam. It sounds good at first, you’ll pay a nominal amount monthly and get ink shipped to you when they determine you need it, because they monitor your printer usage via AI and the internet. Okay, that last bit is creepy, but you give it a shot. You decide this is not for you, and try to cancel the subscription. Through the wonder of AI and an internet connection, all the ink you’ve bought and paid for can no longer be used in your printer. That’s right. Something you purchased and paid in full for is not yours to use in a printer you have bought and paid for. If that wasn’t annoying enough, you move and get a new internet network in your new home. Just try to set that up. I dare you. It’s been two days and literally hours trying to do something that should have taken 15-20 minutes. I give up. I’ve ordered a new printer that is not an HP, and the cursed machine is going into electronic recycling, because I do not hate anyone enough to pass it on. There’s a reason HP printers for the home consumer are so cheap. Do not fall for it.

4 STARS only because HP installation instructions are crap. This is the fourth HP printer I have purchased in the last three years. Number 1 was over $200.00, could never link to the internet with it. Direct printing was successful 10% of the time. Trashed it as the return time was exceeded. HP instructions always seem to make reference to settings that you cannot find. #2 was a cheaper version of #1, same result. Number three was the same one as this purchase. Kept getting a printer cartridge error, never resolved. Returned (not to Amazon) and ordered from Amazon at a $20.00 price reduction but no shipping cost. Well, things started happening... Actually got test prints and info prints, but no file prints. Pulled out a support document that had 22 steps to resolve problem. Could not get past #5 because reference to a non-existent setting. Finally, did pull down of print options. Found a new one. Hit it and VIOLA! GREATEST LITTLE PRINTER UNDER $50.00 EVER! PRINTER 5 STARS, HP SUPPORT 1 STAR

I am a college student and I needed a printer to print the occasional draft for editing, and a few resources that I want to keep for future classes. All of my work is submitted online, so there is definitely not a high workload for this printer. In the 6 months I have had it, I have not quite gone through one pack of paper. From the start, I was concerned about the strong arm tactics, forcing you to use HP ink accompanied by veiled threats that, if you use ink manufactured by any other company, your printer may quit working. Well, I didn’t want to wake up to find a horse head in my bed, so I agreed to sign up for HP instant ink. Despite multiple attempts, I couldn’t create an account, so I decided to deal with it when my ink ran out. I printed about 12 pages, and the ink that came with the printer ran out! Again, I attempted to enroll in the HP ink program. After much wasted time, I found comparable ink cartridges on Amazon and purchased a new black one. Everything worked fine. Recently, I needed to print a rubric for a performance task. It was a simple 5 page document, but it would not print. I checked the printer and printed a message from HP that said there was an issue with my printer and it would not print until it was resolved…except that it just printed that message just fine. Hmmmm…..I smell a scam, and it sort of smells like horses! The Printer Information Report told me to check my HP account for more information. Well, ok, I will do that. Somehow, the serial and product numbers that I found on my printer showed that my printer did not exist. I attempted to troubleshoot on my own. The light by the color ink symbol was flashing, so I ordered new color ink. When it came, I installed it. No dice. I powered down. No dice. I unplugged the cord. No dice. I checked for paper jams and replaced the paper in the tray because I suddenly had a paper size error code. I selected the paper size through the settings for my printer on my computer. I watched video after video for troubleshooting error codes for 2800e. I threw the printer in the garbage and ordered a Canon. It will be here Sunday, and maybe then I can submit my assignment. I will never again buy anything from HP.

I am reading really dumb comments about booking it up and not working. It literally took me 10 minutes to unpack it, power it up, put in the ink that came with it, put paper in, download the HP App and set it up to print succession all but 15 total minutes. Print quality is fantastic. Scznned copies are fantastic. O had an older model lasted 7 years for my home office and all Of my family use it for school and work too right from their phones and laptops hooked up WiFi anywhere even out in the yard !!! Great price great easy printer don’t need a $260 beast. Just saying. People just don’t read and follow directions. App Store HPPrinter App. Laptop look for WiFi connection and connect Done !
