These work well for small to medium sized shrubs/trees. We use them around our crabapple and magnolia trees with good success. Has good instructions about where to place (drip line) and how many based on size. The little plastic caps are fairly flimsy so don’t expect them to last for the entire pack. I would suggest making sure the ground is a bit softer if you intend to use the cap and to remove it before you drive it too far down and can’t get it off. If the ground is too hard, you may need to predict a small hole to ensure the spike and/or cap does break with hammering. Overall a good product with steady fertilizer release.

There are only one cap in a box for 12 bars. Maybe it’s enough for most of others but mostly the soil is very hard in California. And the cap is very easy to be damaged. If they could put 2 or 3 ones for one box that would be better. The product is all good just needs more caps.

These work great however they are for more foliage growth than shrubs or trees that flower. They still have everything you need for a flowering shrub or tree and are fine to use of course but more nitrogen means more foliage growth rather than flowering. Last year my azalea shrub got hit really badly in the extreme cold blast we had in mid to late February of 2023, and I actually thought it killed my azalea shrub the foliage was totally burnt by all the very extreme cold temperatures we had for 3 days straight. My azalea shrub completely dropped all its evergreen leaves in spring and began flushing out new foliage. I treated the shrub with one of these sticks knowing I wouldn’t get any blooms all season because the shrub needed the extra nitrogen boost to recover from the winter damage it suffered. It put on all new growth and foliage and it’s looking really healthy, and with spring 2024 right around the corner I’m hoping I will see some blooms this spring. I would definitely use this fertilizer again. I got great results with it. I will say getting these in the ground is a bit frustrating. I actually dug out a small hole in the drip line on either side of the shrub and broke the fertilizer stick in half and dropped them in each hole covered them and watered them in really well. Works like a charm. Just take a good shovel or a small garden tool and give the fertilizer stick a good wack right in the middle.

We buy these every year for all our fruit trees & it makes a difference trust me. We tried other brands & they disappointed us. My husband didn’t believe me when I told him they made a big difference, so we put some spikes on certain trees and other bran on some others and nothing on the rest. In 2 weeks you could see a big difference between which ones had the miracle-gro spikes and the others. Since then he hasn’t questioned about me buying these or the cost of them lol. I will say they are better priced on here than at other stores. Give them a try and you won’t be disappointed.

3 out of 12 Stakes arrived broken in two pieces. Will be difficult to hammer into ground with two sections and no point. I am sure the product works, but not worth it in this condition.

I place these at the "drip line" of my two small orange trees, and so far nothing has died. I've been using this product for about 3 or 4 years now. Seems to work fine, and I don't bother with any special fertilizer besides these stakes. My recommendation is to place them in a different location each season, and strive for the first day of Spring, and the first day of Fall. I try to wait until the ground is slightly wet but you don't have to. First I shove/hammer in a hand shovel or other metal tool into the ground where I want to place the fertilizer spike. Then I remove that, and it's much easier to hammer in the miracle-gro spike.
