I decided to purchase this charger after watching a review by Tom Moloughney from the State of Charge YouTube channel. I was in the market for a replacement because my previous EVSE failed in a very common way—the plastic clip that secures the connector to the vehicle broke. Unfortunately, that weak point seems to plague many chargers. One of the first things that sold me on the IYILO EVSE is that the locking clip is metal, not plastic like the one on my WolfBox charger. That makes a big difference for real-world use. Accidental drops or rough handling while charging (courtesy of my son) are far less likely to cause damage. Setup was straightforward. I went with the NEMA 14-50 plug-in version, and all it took was downloading the app, registering an account, and I was ready to charge. The app allows you to input your local costs for both scheduled charging and plug-and-charge sessions. The interface itself is fairly basic, but it provides all the essential information without unnecessary clutter. One standout feature—and a major reason I decided to try this unit—is its temperature monitoring. The charger includes temperature sensors for both the NEMA 14-50 plug and the vehicle connector. I haven’t seen this feature on other EVSEs, at least not at this price point. Even better, the unit doesn’t just display temperatures. If temperatures exceed safe thresholds, the charger first reduces power, and if the temperature doesn't decrease, shuts down until conditions return to acceptable levels. That’s an excellent safety feature and a meaningful safeguard against overheating and potential fire risks. Another feature I really appreciate is how the charger handles power outages. My previous unit would revert to standby mode after a power loss and fail to resume charging—an annoying surprise when you wake up to a vehicle that isn't charged. This EVSE automatically continues the charging session once power is restored. I can personally confirm this works: during a recent outage caused by downed power lines, the charger picked right back up when service was restored. Overall, I’m very happy with this unit. At $309, the price is extremely competitive, and the built-in overheat protection adds real peace of mind. My only hesitation is that IYILO is a relatively new company, so there isn’t much data on durability or customer service. That said, when my unit arrived without the RFID cards, I emailed support and had the issue resolved within a couple of hours—which is a very encouraging sign. Based on the combination of price, safety features, and real-world performance, I think this charger is an excellent value. The only real caveat is its limited track record due to the company’s age—but so far, my experience has been very positive. I will provide an update in a few months.

This is a great charger at a great price. The connector is fantastic quality. One of the few chargers I've come across with a temperature sensor in the connector itself to maximize safety. The plastic is heavy duty, the LEDs are big and bright. The app is simple yet powerful, it only took a few seconds to register and connect the device to Wi-Fi. Mine is in the garage and I just wanted to plug-and-charge but it supports app activation as well as RFID cards. I didn't need to do any power sharing but the fact that it's capable at this price point is impressive.

First of all let me say this charger is amazing. For the price, safety features, and the smart features it can't be beat. I did a lot of research before ending up with this level 2 charger. I decided that a 50 amp breaker was the best for me to use so I went with the nema charger. It works amazing but the main reason I bought it. Was because it has heat monitoring at both plugs. If you know anything about chargers for cars then you know the biggest problem tends to be the nema plug catching fire. This unit shuts down if the temperature gets too hot either plug. If it's only getting a little bit too hot it'll just adjust the amperage until it cools down. That's amazing! Especially at this price point. I had another charger but then I did further research and decided this is the one for me. This should also be the one for you. It works amazing charging my Hummer and gives me peace of mind.

During setup, I couldn't get the charger to Wi-Fi. I even tried using my phone’s hotspot, but the charger still couldn’t detect it. This was quite frustrating. Wi-Fi is required to set a schedule and monitor the plug temperature, which were exactly the features I was looking for when choosing this charger. Maybe I missed something, but the installation process didn’t feel straightforward for me. The charger was essentially “dumb” right out of the box, so I decided to return it and switch to a more reliable option. The return process was successful

Nice Charger. Pluses: * Temp Sensors in Both Plugs, the AC side and the vehicle side, for safety, with monitoring in the app. * Really nice flexible cable. * Heavy Duty well built J1772 plug. * Ability in App to set the output amperage in 1A increments from 6 to 40A. * AC 14-50 Voltage monitor in app, ( Allowed me to see I'm only getting 205V from my outlet, looking into that, but charger works fine on the 204-205 voltage). - WISH LIST: 1) - * This Charger has a safety function that , if it senses an hot / overheat at the AC plug, reduces the charge current from 40A down to 32A, it goes back up to 40A once cooled off, if no cool down at all is detected, then it cuts charging off, until cool down - It's not clear what it would do if not set to 40A, if it detects a hot condition while charging at 32A , or 24A, 30A etc... Does it lower 32A to 24 or 16, or just shut down? 2) - I would like to be able to set the "cool off" lower charge current setting to something lower than 32A in the app ... 3) - Also, Once charging is done or the charger is not plugged into car, you can no longer see the Voltage of the 14-50 outlet, it would be nice if you can open the app, & see if the 240V outlet has power / what voltage. Those are the only nitpicks I can find so far, It's a great unit!

Hands down, this charger is amazing. Easy to install, professional and well written manual and installation instructions were crystal clear and everything about the product from packing materials to mounting screws are robust and fitting of products at twice the price. I already had the NEMA 14-50 plug in my garage as this IYILO was replacing another charger (Enel X Juicebox 40) I purchased in 2020. The app is terrific and stable, the info provided is useful and ease of use is a no brainer. Just a well thought out, well built and well engineered product.

Very pleased so far. I think this unit has everything you ever need in a charger like adjusting amperage, setting charging times, monitoring the cost per kW, plug and charge, use a card if you need to, plus some extra features like having live monitoring of recepticle and charging port temperatures. ETL certified, nice packaging with instructions. The only negative aspect I encounter are the drywall anchors, way oversized and I could not make it hold a screw, I ended up using my own anchors.
