Using the device couldn’t be easier, simply connect to any computer and enter a 7-15-digit PIN. If the correct PIN is entered, all data stored on the drive will be accessible. Not sure why they used a HD with a rotating disc and needle inside - as it is not very strong to deal with tampering... The design of a moving disc inside means all you have to do it turn it on and throw it around and your data is destroyed. So I guess just make sure you backup your important data somewhere else on a solid state drive so you don't lose it when/if someone decides to destroy your data without even connecting it to a computer or trying to get past all the fancy pointless resin coating. What a joke product IMO. Wish I could return mine. Save yourself the money and headache - this item will not protect your data very well at all. ... show more

My company needed to transfer data from one data center to another for a corporate application. Our network bandwidth between the two data centers would not permit data transfer that would be quick enough and not risk impacting other production traffic on the same circuits. Our risk team assessed and approved the use of this device for secure physical transfer due to its encryption and security features. Order was shipped to the data center, arrived late (but only by one day and shipping costs were refunded) but was promptly connected, worked as described and as per the unit's user manual and technical specifications, and allowed us to move about 7 terabytes of data, including physical interstate courier transport, within one week. The device has now been reset, again according to spec, and will be available for future use in the enterprise. A lot of manufacturers are trying to get users to load their crapplications just to use their hardware. This was pricey. But its a nice hardware solution. Time will tell if it holds up. But I’ve had this a few months now and so far so good

If you are looking for where to store your computer data super security safe than iStorage is your answer. I have purchased their Model #: diskAshur DT2 and it is one awesome secure 2TB hard drive. I purchased it for a very reasonably good price. It has 3 levels of security, and it has one feature that allows for one administrative password and can be set up for many other user passwords separate so the Administrator has complete control. It is a256- bit device and amazingly fast. The diskAshur DT2 is well-engineered and built like a rock. The instructions for set up and installation are easily understood, and I am no computer whiz. It took me 2 minutes or less to set on my computer and a breeze to use afterwards. It comes with lifetime customer support. And free lifetime Nero BackitUp Software came with my purchase along with a separate limited-time security software. I can assure you this will not be my last purchase from iStorage when the need arises. Overall, out of 1 to 10 rating, I give it a 10.
