These worked great for icy terrain/snow/sloshy conditions. Great tread on the soles, they're super comfortable and kept my feet warm. High recommend if you need for heavy snow streets or coming off the slopes- wouldn't recommend for hiking or anything like that

UPDATE: I wore these all week in Montana, even on the plane:) It was in the upper 20’s. My feet were comfortable and warm though sometimes I added Hot Feet inserts. They really do keep your feet warm. They fit nicely under my snow pants. Only once did I have an issue when I stepped in a high snow bank getting out of the snow coach in Yellowstone, as I was not wearing snow pants and the snow got in the top of my boot. They were a little slippery on ice but at least I was warm. The inserts are snug but with finagling are removable. Very happy with my purchase. Fit was great ordering up a half size. Highly recommend. ORIGINAL: Heading to Montana, but live in Florida, so I needed warm SNOW BOOTS without breaking the bank. I did a lot of research on Columbia’s website and was going to order them there but they ran out of stock. Luckily, Amazon had them in my size and competitively priced, I got an even better deal as an open box item, that to me looked like they never worn, they looked brand new, with tags. Normally I am between an 8 & 8.5. I ordered the 8.5 to accommodate 2 pairs of socks. I was surprised that one pair of socks was slightly snug so if you want extra room order up another half size. The souls are nicely constructed with plenty of grooves for traction on snow and ice. They are suede, material and rubber on the top. They lace up and because they lace up I’m sure water could seep into this area but it is a one piece tongue that is sealed off from the inside of the boot. Snow won’t get in, water from rain or a puddle I’m not sure. The highest point is 7.5 inches, I would not want them higher as it could be an issue with snow pants. They have a fuzzy fleece lining on the inside rim of the boot. They are insulated but wear proper socks to stay warm. They are not heavy on your feet. Overall I’m happy with my purchase and confident based on Amazon and Columbia’s reviews that getting these boots for $48 as an open box was a fantastic deal. ... show more

I love these boots! It has been almost impossible to find shoes that combat Raynaud's. These are the only pair I have found that majority of the time eases if not fixes the problem of foot pain from cold weather.

This was my first ever pair of snow boots. I bought them shortly after moving to New England. I was worried that they would not be tall enough, and I was right. That being said I moved to New England from Hawaii, so I am not at all used to cold weather. The parts of my leg that they did cover stayed 100% warm though, and I would strongly advise anyone who does not get cold below 10º C or 50ºF to buy them. If you are someone who gets cold easily, like me, then I would advise you to think of getting the Ice Maiden II (taller boot version). Although I understand that one is about $12 more, or at least they were when I was shopping around for boots. Personally, the cost of the taller boots was worth it, since these ones work well enough for my purposes. I am only outside long enough to head to classes and walk to the dining hall or groceries. In terms of benefits I will say that these shoes are 100% waterproof as advertised. My feet never once felt cold, and I could even walk through the melted snow slush that was 3 in deep without getting any water/cold/snow in my boot at all. The traction is decent for when you hit small ice patches. However, I would advise anyone who is ordering it with slim ankles and legs to order the size below. No matter how tightly I lace up my boots they are too loose around my ankles/legs, and the foot size is too large as well. I have tried wearing fluffier socks, but the difference in size just doesn't work. For reference I am a size 9.5 in Bearpaws, Nikes, and Adidas. However, the size 9.5s in this boot were just too big. Another huge benefit is the look/style. I am obsessed with how these look. They match the picture exactly, and I was so excited with the look of the product. Boots arrived on time just before our snow & cold temps. Perfect, lightweight yet very warm. No heavy sock needed in these boots (I guess you could if you needed). I'm giving them a 4 star rating due to the strange long laces. The laces that came with the boots look like something you'd put on sneakers & they are white. Really? These are light weights, but not as light weight as some. They run narrow, but pretty true to heel to toe size. The to around your leg is fuzzy, but the inner lining is not. It's hard and more utility boot like vs. Fuzzy. The support is fine, but after a few hours of wearing them my feet are ready for a break. The boots keep my feet warm in the 20s so far in a Wisconsin winter with snow. I do think when it hits the sub-zero temperatures these boots may not cut it and will need wool socks to be paired with them to stay warm since they do not have a full fuzzy liner. They are fare boots for the price, but next time I'll probably get a different version with a fizzy interior. ... show more
