    • Wow! It mops too??? lidar?? Impressive machine!
So far, we have been very impressed with this roomba! We previously had a vacuum only 900 series that is probably 4-5 years old. It still worked alright, but it was starting to struggle a little bit more climbing over rugs and things like that. We didn’t have anything to compare it to though. This thing is pretty wild. With the LiDar, it can scan rooms in seconds rather than many many minutes… it also detects moving objects like people and pets and it just goes right around them! It is also substantially quieter than our previous model. It’s easily half as loud. The fact that it can mop too was really the big selling point for us. Mopping isn’t our favorite task, so to have this was really appealing to us. It mapped our house completely in about 10-15 minutes total, which was impressive. It seems to be a lot more thorough than the other model we had, but my wife thinks the suction isn’t quite as strong but I think it’s about the same. The docking station itself is quite a bit larger, which we don’t mind, but it does take up quite a bit more room. Letting it clean the entire house took quite a few hours, but I mean to vacuum and mop the whole house… and not actually have to do it ourselves, who cares! The setup is was very simple, we added it as a new product and it was ready to go in minutes from box to charging. We did wait a few days before we mopped with it because I wanted to make sure we got the approved iRobot mopping solution, but once it mopped I thought it did a pretty good job with the whole house. It’s a lot quieter mopping of course, and the emptying process isn’t deafening like our last one either! There are mostly pros with this from my experience. It’s substantially smarter, quieter, and more efficient in so many ways, plus… it mops too!! The cons are that it did have to charge itself probably 3-4 times to do the entire house, but it charges prettt fast. The mopping solution goes fairly quick, so you will have to watch that and fill it more fequently, whereas the older model we just replaced the bag after several weeks and that was it. Other than that… it’s been great! Well still use a normal handheld vacuum every other week or so just because we have a cat and keep our place very very clean, but for something like this to run over certain areas every day, it’s awesome. The price tag isn’t cheap… that’s the other big thing to consider. There are other brands several hundred less, and some several hundred more! I think it’s probably just going to boil down to functions that you want and whether or not the user interface is decent. iRobot was the OG, so they have it pretty dialed in. The customer support is also something I trust, and parts are a lot easier to find… a lot to consider, but all in all, this is a 5/5 from this family! ... show more

    • Replaced my S9+ and M6 combo into a single device that does everything better
This has to be the flagship Roomba offered by iRobot right now. It does everything that my previous S9+ and M6 combo did before, but better. It leads with the vacuum (smart design) and then follows with the mop in the rear. The mop will kick itself out on the right side to make sure that it covers all the way up to the edge, which is something my previously high-end M6 can't do. Excellent suction, home mapping, the mop pad event lifts to avoid getting carpet and rugs wet. This is totally a one-stop solution for floor cleaning, every function you would want is here. The iRobot app is my favorite of all of the robot vacuum software out there. The schedule building, home mapping, customization, and reports it generates are all intuitive and easy to use. Once docked, it even self-cleans and heat dries the mop pads which my M6 did not do. The best tactic to get setup as quickly as possible is to actually use the Mapping Run Only feature (leaves the vacuum and mop totally off while it runs around the house) as the first thing you do once it is powered up. Once you've let it do one complete cycle, you'll have a map that's maybe 90% accurate of your home. You can then continue to just use the device as normal and over the next two or three vacuum/mop runs, it will continue to update your maps until it is a perfect blueprint of your home. It took about two runs through the first floor to get it totally mapped out, however once that was done I could flawlessly automate the vacuum and mopping every week. Noise level is very pleasant and definitely better quieter than the Roomba S9+ I was using before. The vacuum noise is comparable to a high-dryer on the low setting, very tolerable, and the mop is nearly silent. The only negative with this is that it doesn't perfectly clean the corners and only has a spinning brush on one side to feed into the main vacuum roller. I don't consider this egregious enough to remove a star, as every once in awhile I still like to do a manual deep cleaning with a vacuum and mop. My mindset with these devices is that they allow me to extend the time in between deep cleanings, not totally replace those chores with automation. This is $800 at the time of this review, which sounds like alot, but this is around half the price of the $1,400 S9+/M6 combo I bought 4 years ago. This combines both of those products into one and does a better job, so the value here is excellent. ... show more
