  • This appears to be a solid and useful tool.
Style: 71CC Red
The auger arrived ahead of time (they had said to allow 10 days but I got it in 7, the company was communicative and kept my updated on shipping particulars, and they seem friendly and responsive. The teo boxes were reasonable well packed and arrived in good condition. While some have complained about the instructions mine came together pretty much assembled and all I really had to do was gas her up and go. After the initial few tries it started right up initially, and has started right away ever since. I got this auger in order to extend a new line of fencing to a corral, and put in a dry lot around a run-in. I figure if it can get through that then it will have paid for itself, and so far it's done just that. It goes down through my topsoil layer (hill wash with some roots and rocks up to grapefruit size) and down into the red Virginia clay underneath fairly easily, with only a few stops to break up get out a larger rock. I would note that I was in a valley on my property where the soil layer is thicker and deeper, I would imagine that up on the higher spots the rock to soil ratio goes way up, but that review is for another day. As others have noted, going slow, extracting the bit frequently to clean it off and prevent bogging down, and bracing the unit against your body rather than just relying on your arms is key. But it saved me a ton of manual work and I'm looking forward to getting a lot of use out of it int the future. I gave it 5 stars on value, based on the ccs, attachments, and comparisons to other units. I gave it 4 stars for ease of use because it can be a beast, and I can see where it could cause problems for some people or in some circumstances. Going slow and steady resolves a lot of that though. I give it 5 stars on durability because while that's impossible for me to know at this point, it's already has overcome every obstacle it's faced on my property to this point and held up to the demands I've made of it. I give mine a strong recommendation. ... show more

  • Great equipment!
Style: 52CC Red
Does the job in all sizes. Cut my time using a post hole digger for sure. Big yard, big fence and I was done in no time.

  • Great for the money.
Style: 52CC Red
Used this machine for my fence posts and it worked great. I did twist the extension bar into a pretzel but that is because my yard had a bunch of brick and large rocks. The one weird thing was they call for great box oil but really it is grease and it comes pre greased.

  • Better than expected!
Style: 52cc Red 2.3HP
This auger is great. Worked better than some of the rental units I've used. Started right up. Easy to use.

  • Auger with 3 bits
Style: 52CC Red
Tried this auger out planting flowers, drilled six holes 18 inches deep within 2 minutes. Worth the money, my brother in law loved it for post holes

  • Used twice so far. Starts great. Runs well.
Style: 52CC Red
Don't dig full depth all at once. Retract after every 1-1.5 depth to get dirt up and out of hole. Digging full 3-4' at one shot can be difficult to lift auger up and out with full column of dirt. Also, hold throttle with one or two fingers, using as a slip clutch in case you hit rock or roots. Auger will stop drill motion but drill motor, handles and therefore your arms will then spin. Be prepared to stop quickly to prevent wrenching your upper torso. Still have primary job of digging sonotube holes for deck, but first 6 and 8" holes worked great. Ordered extra augers so now have 4,6,8 and 12" bits. UPDATE: After digging 10-8"holes and 3-12" holes, I have to say the drill did fine with the 8" down to 5' but struggled with the 12". I even predug 8" to help remove some of the dirt. (Which really beat me up - auger bounced around hole with no steady pilot bit). WARNING - monitor the 4 handle mount bolts. They work loose. M8x25 to replace, although up to 40mm long will work. ... show more

  • Pull Handle Broke - but Customer Service responded fast.
Style: 52CC Red
The pull starter mechanism on the machine completely broke on the 4th use. Making it completely useless to use. It ran pretty good on 3 uses for about 5 or 6 holes. But on the 4th use, the whole pull mechanism pulled apart and the plastic piece broke like it was cheap brittle stuff. Customer service responded fast. I will update with feedback on how well they solve the issue. Update: They resolved the issue in a timely manner. But now the bolt from the shaft that connects to the starter mechanism broke off completely and now there is no way to start it. I have only drilled 40 holes total (for trees to plant) so it feels like I didn't really get my money's worth. I have only started the think maybe 10 times total. Sad that it is so fragile. When it works, it works well, but it doesn't last at all. I am contacting the company again and will update as to the resolution. ... show more
