I was really blown away but the quality of these bits. The day after I got them I used them to rip a total of 320 linear feet of custom stair rail. The bits were really sharp, and remained sharp even though I pushed them to rip deeper than I probably should have. Also my materials had a decent amount of knots that the bits just chewed right through, leaving a nice smooth finish. I would have no issue whatsoever with slapping these on a router table for bulk processing in the future. I highly recommend these.

This set of Router bits is a great per-bit price on some hobbiest grade router bits. They are your basic, cheap, yellow bits that you can find all over the place, but in this set, in this case, they are a bit more special than average. I do wish the case could stand on its side (with the handle up). The hinges prevent that from happening easily. It would make it a lot easier to store if I could stand it up and slide it onto a shelf, rather than stacking it on top of or beneath other boxes of router bits. Be aware that this is a metric set. Because the description says "1/2 inch, European Edition" it might be unclear that you are getting a metric set of router bits. The shafts are 1/2 inch (probably, I haven't measured them), but the heads are all labeled in milimeters. I would suggest double checking which bits this set has and comparing it with the types of bits you foresee yourself needing. There's some redundancy here with all the straight bits that could have been avoided and replaced with some different profiles or angles or specialty bits. Not a criticism that takes off any stars, but it is something to think about before purchasing.

This is not a premium set of router bits, but it is a nice set at a decent price. Yes, I can pay more for better bits. But I don’t need the fancy ones most of the time. These ½” bit set is well balanced, and the 1mm carbide cutting area is sharp and should provide plenty of durability for my DIY projects. I am not sure how durable these will be, but I don’t see a reason why they won’t work well for my purposes. Should they fail, I will update this review. If I were to complain, it would be that they offered a US based Vine member the “European Edition”. So, this set is comprised entirely of metric bits. That means if I need to cut a ½” dado, I cannot use this set. For me, that makes this set less useful. Pro: Priced well for what it is. Well designed and the bits didn’t wobble in my router. They made clean cuts too. Con: They are metric (European Edition). My take: I may use these, but not likely. Info: As a Vine reviewer, I realize how important my reviews are to consumers. I too rely on reviews in making my purchasing decisions. As such, I want to provide a valuable service to those considering purchasing the products I review. Also, since I must pay taxes on the retail value of the products I receive (in my case, about 40%—broken down as 15.3% in SS/Med taxes, and 25% Fed. Income taxes), I endeavor to provide an honest review of every item I receive. FYI, my stars are valued as follows: 1 Star: Do not buy. This item has serious flaws. 2 Stars: Do not buy. Not as bad as a 1 Star, but it still has major downsides. 3 Stars: Buy if you can’t find an alternative. There are some issues that need worked out. 4 Stars: Recommend purchase. I like this set, it has some interesting sizes in it. I really love the price and they are 1/2 inch shank to boot. These are nicely made, they cut well, you can sharpen them with a Trend diamond card. I love collecting different sets like this so I have a huge variety of shapes and styles to chose from. I know some of the wood working snobs and eilitists will turn their nose to these but there is nothing wrong with them. I will buy the expensive ones but only when I find one that I use so often that it makes sense to upgrade the quality and expense that much. I have so many router bits that I have used a few times, once or twice, and some even never, so why waste your money if you are just creating a collection? A set like this is perfect for that and I think they work just as well as a the higher end quality ones. I clean my router bits often to keep all the resins and junk off of them, that helps a lot, and I always look at the edge quality before I start and take the diamond card to them if they need a touch up. I do that regardless if I spent thirty four bucks for the set or a hundred buck for one bit. These are a great bang for the buck and I really like them.

My system for router bits is buy them cheap first and if you wear one out, then it's one you should spend more for a top quality bit because you use it all the time. But who wants to be without a bit when you need it for just one small thing. So, I have a set of 1/4" MNA bits that have been doing a nice job for me on various woods for several months now. So far those have shown no signs of wear and have provided accurate and smooth cuts for me. Seeing the 1/2" made me think they would also be a good set to have around. It comes with metric sized bits, so if you are SAE only, you may not want these, but for many uses, I find it nice to work in metric since they are my own designs and the math is easier. These bits seem every bit as good as the 1/4" set I have and my tests so far have shown they do an excellent job in regards to accuracy and smoothness. For this price, you won't regret making sure you always have the right tool on hand.
