After six years, I finally got the astrophysikitties, Tyson and Sagan, new litterboxes. The ones I had served us well, but they grew bigger than anticipated. The boxes were bigger than anticipated, too, but that's a good thing. They are the same height and pan depth as the old ones (see picture), which we need because Sagan potties against the sides in the corners, but they're also wider to make it easier to turn around. The only down side is that the flap doesn't close off the opening. Odors are always going to escape no matter what, but there's no reason to make it so easy. I'm leaving the flap up for now until they get used to a new bathroom, and I put the old litter from their boxes in them so they smell familiar. Also worth noting is how worthless the included scoop is. The short handle, flimsy plastic, and wide holes are not at all useful. See picture next to the scoop I use, bigger than a normal scoop, but same length. (Big and metal because that pee in the corner business has broken several scoops.) The Boyz have done their inspections and tests. I think they will grow to like these a LOT better. ... show more

good litter box, big enough to what i wanted, although the scoop that came with it had me laughing because it was so small and flimsy for such a big litter box. it is nice that it does have its own spot inside the litter box though. I didn’t really need the scoop so it’s not a big deal to me but don’t buy because of the litter scooper. if you need a scooper, just go to your local store and buy a better one. Great litter box in itself tho, no complaints about that. The last two i had, the clips broke after like one week, so this gets 5 stars because it has kept together pretty well and really no signs of damage at all! ... show more

It's a litter box, we all know what it's for and nobody enjoys having to maintain it. What I do like about this particular one is the side walls, and we all know what they are for and it's awesome. No more you-know-what ending up on the surrounding walls and floor. Clean-ups a breeze. Pop the top off to take care of business(ick) then pop top back on and the kitty's are good to GO..get it? Oh, forget about the litter scoop that's included, it's worthless as far as I'm concerned. However it's design allows you to hang it onto the box top should you decide to make use of it. I have a cat who likes to pee higher than normal litter boxes and hates enclosed boxes. This one works well only 2 complaints. 1. The edges do clip together but don't seal so sometimes pee that drips down from the top gets into the small space between the "lid" and pan will drip out of the litter box. To combat this I put a pee pad down and im trying clear tape on the back edge to prevent that. Frequent cleaning needed. 2. The plastic is thinner than conventional litter boxes so although it being lighter is nice, I think I'd prefer a thicker plastic. Overall would consider getting again. ... show more

This is an excellent litter box. Yes, it is small … the dimensions are clear in the description. If you don’t want a small litter box, then don’t buy it. People complaining that it’s too small, well, you obviously didn’t pay attention to the description. In one of the negative reviews, an extremely long negative reviews, the lady complained that the lid doesn’t attach to the box … YES, YES IT DOES! You didn’t bother to look at it closely, obviously, and I’ll bet you’re not happy with anything you purchase and you just like to complain. Sturdiness … it’s just fine. For the price of $15, you won’t find a better litter box. For those complaining that the corners are too squared … hogwash. They are rounded enough. If you don’t want a square litter box, then buy a round one for crying in the night. After reading the negative reviews, I was hesitant to buy it, but I had a hunch … and for the price, I’m glad I gave in to the hunch, because my expectations were far exceeded. What I’ve gathered from reading reviews on many products is that people don’t pay attention to details before they click “Add to Cart” and then go to great lengths to leave negative reviews on perfectly fine products. Granted, there are some products that deserve 1 and 2 star reviews, but this litter box, for the price, deserves FIVE stars … full stop. ... show more

The locking mechanism does not work well and I don't trust it to pick up the entire box with the handle on top. I slide it over to clean it. KitCat loves it though, I know she feels safe going in there, I guess that is a concern for cats since that is one of the few times they feel vulnerable is when using their catbox. No mess with the top on and it really does keep the smell down. I will never have an open cat box again! ... show more

I got this to upgrade one of our older hooded boxes to an open-top style, which most cats prefer. I chose this over one of the more expensive models like the ModKat or the Cove box, both of which I have in other locations in the house. This is much more affordable and a nice clean styling. Overall a nice option. The lock function doesn't work well to keep the high-side shield in place, which is not a big deal. My biggest gripe is the little cut-ins in the front, which create extra corners and are a great place for dirty litter to accumulate and hard to clean with a scoop. Otherwise a very nice box, but this styling could be improved to make it easier to clean. Still a good lower cost model! ... show more

I took the door off for ventilation. The size is perfect for my cat. I got a bigger scoop because I just preferred it. I never used the hook for the little scoop because I took the door off. It seemed awkward though in thr pictures and trying it out at first. Other than that I am buying another one as I got a new fur baby recently and the depth allows them to potty comfortably with enough litter and it doesn't get thrown out. ... show more
