This is a much nicer ab bench than any I have found at a gym. It's about a hundred pounds, but has wheels so it can be moved fairly easily. As some others have said is does feel "heavier" as you crunch up than most of benches at your local gym, but I think that's a good thing. And you can increase resistance by adding weight plates to it. It went together easily and the fit and finish was perfect. They even sent a little vial of touch up paint with it. It is expensive for a piece of equipment with only one real function, but you can get a great ab workout and hit all sections of your mid section by changing your leg and body position.     • Excellent quality, but ....
Although this bench was not hard to assemble, it took a handyman about an hour and a half to put it all together. Lots of parts. It is super-heavy-duty-- I think a 400-lb. man could use it every day for decades and not break it; it's almost built in a way that's overkill. It appears to be very well-made-- with even heavier components than the Precor bench I was using at the gym. But what I don't like, as a woman, is that the moving part of the bench (the upper half) is probably 3 times heavier to "crunch" than the Precor. This puts some strain on my neck and upper shoulders and there is no way to lighten the weight. The best I could do as a compromise was to raise the top end of the bench about 3 inches by putting a couple of books under the front wheels, which made it a bit easier to "crunch." But I wish the effort required started out light like the Precor. When a machine is too hard to use, I find myself using it less often. ... show more

    • Don't try to do too much too soon if you aren't used to it.
This is a great bench, more sturdy than the one at the gym. Supports your neck and therefore one can focus all of the exercise in the abdomen area. I'd suggest small crunches at first for anyone who doesn't have developed abs and just keep at it. In time you'll be able to raise yourself higher. This is excellent gym equipment. ... show more

It was easy to assemble. This is a well built piece. I've used other ab machines such as the Precor one and this is almost as good. It's certainly as well built. I like the ergonomics of the Precor slightly better but this offers much better value.

This is very similar to the original Precor ab bench with some great improvements and additional features. The ability to add weight plates to increase resistance is a nice touch. It's extremely well built, and assembly is easy. It also came very well packaged. If you have the room, and want to target the core while minimizing low back stress this is the way to go. ... show more
