I've been consistently using the same shade of IGK hair color for years, but my recent experience with a new package was quite disappointing. The developer was packaged in a bag, and unfortunately, the product leaked out into it. I wondered if the manufacturer changed their packaging. Despite finding this unusual, I decided to proceed with the application. Regrettably, that turned out to be a mistake. In an attempt to salvage the leaked developer, I followed the instructions to mix the color and developer together and applied it to my hair. Around 20 minutes into the processing time, I checked the color, only to discover it had taken on a strange dark orangy-green hue. Undeterred, I continued processing for the recommended 40 minutes. Upon rinsing the color out, I noticed that my hair was darker than usual, but that was something I could live with, assuming it would correct itself in the next touch-up in a few weeks. However, after washing and styling, I observed that my hair appeared fried, with excessive hair loss. Strands were falling out in alarming quantities, and I've even developed a couple of bald spots at my hairline. Initially, I attributed the hair loss to the changing seasons here in Arizona, but after several weeks, considering the worsening condition of my hair, I am genuinely concerned about the contents of the developer bottle. My hair has become extremely dry, frizzy, and laden with split ends, making it challenging to even comb through. Given this experience, I've decided never to order my hair color through Amazon again. I suspect the possibility of tampering with the hair color kit I received, which has resulted in significant damage to my hair.

One box is not enough if you haven’t bleached you hair before and/or if your roots are too dark. One box will bleach the second one will give you the tone you are looking for. If you are in a rush and your hair is too dark don’t do it. You need at least 2-3 days to get the tone you want. Use one box then wait a day and then use the second box. One box will only make your dark hair orange becaue you have to bleach your hair first to get the nice golden color the box promised. It’s achievable but you need to do it in 2-3 days and at least two boxes. It leaves your hair soft doesn’t damage it. If you are in a budget something to consider. It’s a good brand and if your hair is already bleached it will look great.

The color was great, accurate to what the box said, covered my previous color as well as could be expected without bleaching it (bright red). No issues with color bleeding onto my pillows or staining my skin. Left my hair not feeling damaged, and the hair mask it comes with had my hair extra silky. My only issue is that it was not enough to get my whole head. It's been 8 years since I've used box dye to do my hair, but one box at my current almost shoulder length used to be enough (across multiple brands). I think the shrinkflation just caught me off guard because it's been so many years. If you've got shoulder length or longer hair get 2 boxes just in case.

So everything about this hair dye is ideal. It even comes with real gloves and an anti-staining packet. The color itself is beautiful however it's not the color that was on the box. I ordered FRENCH RIVIERA (Light Beige Brown 6AG) which looked like it had a caramel brown tone and not the surprising red my hair turned out as. Either way, this does not resemble a beige brown. Red is a nightmare to get out so I hope the tone somehow changes a bit after my first wash although it looks like it may get brighter.

This is by far the best at home box kit I have tried. Smell is pleasant. Does not irritate even my extremely sensitive scalp. Covers grays, and doesn't fade. I like the conditioner it comes with also. Leaves hair soft and shiny. Great color.
