I'm sorry to say I'm an ice pack junky and have way more experience with using ice packs then I'd like to admit. I've used all types and shapes, but this is my first clay pack...and I love it! The first thing I noted is how much heavier it is than similar-sized gel packs. It is very heavy. So keep that in mind with certain places you're applying it. For instance, I placed it on my head to help my headache and the weight of it was too much, so I switched to my gel pack for that. However, the weight can be a benefit, offering much needed compression during ice therapy. For instance, on a swollen ankle the recovery time seems to be much faster because of the weight of the thing in combination with the cold. The second thing I noticed is that it doesn't feel immediately freezing like a gel pack does; it sits on the skin, thoroughly and deeply cooling the area much more efficiently than a gel pack. It feels amazing, almost soothing as opposed to the harsh, driving cold of a gel pack. But don't be deceived, it is VERY cold and does the job better than well! The third thing I noticed was how long the cooling lasts! I'm able to move this pack around to various parts of the body for 10-20 minute increments for nearly two hours and reap the benefits of the cold. It's amazing! This alone makes it worth the buy. Fourthly, the size of this pack is extremely versatile. It's large enough to cover the back top to bottom. I turn it horizontally to go from one side of my torso to the other. It can wrap around an arm, a hip, a calf, and maybe even a thight if you're a smaller build. It has great coverage on the shoulders as well. HOWEVER, it is not as flexible as a gel pack, so trying to get I to nooks and crannies or around the neck is difficult. There are other sizes and shapes of this type of pack for those purposes. Finally, the quality of this pack is very good. I examined it when I received it and it is very well made. I don't think there's a risk of it breaking or leaking at all. Its big enough to lay on, put on my lower back and hip - it stays in place because the frozen ice pack is a little heavy. I haven't experienced any leakage. I have a lower back issue but my pain is in my hip and goes down my leg - all the ice packs I've had were just too small. I would buy this product again! ... show more

So I do love that it’s heavy weighted, very flexible and large enough for my hip. It stays cold enough to do the job for about an hour. Rated it 4 star only because it said it would stay cold for 4 hours and it is def ready to go back to the freezer after an hour. Overall great product

Purchased a few of these because they make great self cooling pads for my dogs and me without having to refrigerate or freeze. I use for my feet and calves for occasional hot feet and dogs use on bed because they get hot. When I had only one it was who got it first but I have one for myself now. Somehow it stays cool, probably clay vs gel inside if I read the description right. My dogs are older so chewing isn’t an issue which maybe why they don’t advertise for pets because it’s not designed for chewing so keep that in mind for safety concerns for chewers or puppies. I’ve had mine for over 5 years and no issues. Easy to clean with baby wipes or wet paper towel. Best feature is self cooling with no refrigeration ... show more
