  • Very Nice Chicken Coop Heater.
If you have chickens and live where it gets cold, you're going to want this HOPOCO chicken coop heater. Of course, no one needs a coop heater during August, but winter is on its way and this is the heater to have if you currently do not have one or need an additional coop heater. This thing is substantial. It really has some weight to it. It's black heavyweight polycarbonate plastic and has some nice feet that slide into the bottom so that it will stand upright. These feet can also be screwed into the coop floor so as to not allow the unit to be knocked over from the birds. It can even be wall mounted. Speaking of upright, it needs to be in an upright position in order to power on, otherwise the safety switch will cause it to automatically power off if it is laying down flat. It needs to be at least in a 45 degree position to power on. I believe this is a good safety precaution that it has, because this heater will pump out some heat. The lowest heat setting is 122 degrees (50 degrees C) and a whopping 191 degrees (88.3 degrees C) on high! Talk about put out some heat. This will be great for the chickens when it gets really cold out. This unit comes with a remote control as well and can be connected to an automatic timer which makes it even more convenient to use, considering that in lots of parts of the country it warms up considerably during the daytime hours. I have not seen one with a remote, but that makes it even handier considering that sometimes the heaters have to be tucked away in the back of a coop and are not exactly convenient to get to for adjusting temperatures. It has a temperature lock function which will prevent the heater from being bumped and possibly changing the temperature. It also has a memory for the last set temperature in case of power failure or simply if the heater is turned off. It will return to that last set temperature setting. With all of the above said, and in all honesty, I cannot vouch for the longevity of the product considering that it is August and is not needed right now, but considering the good build quality of the unit, I'm hoping that it will indeed last for many seasons to come. ... show more

  • A much safer option than a heat lamp for the coop
I really prefer radiant panel heaters like this over traditional heat lamps in a chicken coop. Anything that lets me avoid having a blazing hot bulb hanging around dry bedding, feathers, and chickens is already starting off on the right foot. This is a 200W panel heater, so it's meant to provide a warm area for the chickens rather than heat the entire coop like you're trying to turn it into your living room. That's actually what I want. Chickens generally handle cold pretty well, but having a warmer spot available during those unusually cold nights is nice. The temperature is adjustable, there's a digital display, and it comes with a remote. I especially like that it remembers your settings after losing power and automatically comes back on. That's a really important feature for something being used with an outlet timer or thermostat controller. The safety features are another big plus. It's UL certified and has an automatic shutoff if the panel gets knocked over. Let's face it, we're putting this around chickens. If there's something they CAN knock over, eventually somebody is going to give it their best shot. You can either mount it or stand it inside the coop, although I personally prefer securely mounting things like this so the chickens can't rearrange my carefully planned setup. At 200 watts, it also uses considerably less power than trying to heat the entire coop with a conventional space heater. Overall, this is exactly the type of supplemental heat I'm comfortable using around our chickens. It gives them a warm place when temperatures really drop without me spending the entire night worrying about a heat lamp hanging over a coop full of flammable bedding. ... show more

  • Works well as a contact heater or space heater. Heats up very quickly
Edit: This does work better. If it's in an enclosed space it will bring up the temperature in that space as well as acting like a contact heater . I had it in my Amish built mini Coop which is pretty thick walled but has no insulation and it brought up the temperature about 6° when left inside overnight So this thing is basically a little wall. Unlike the brooder plates that we have seen a lot on the market lately that go horizontally to the Earth and the chicks go under it. This one stands straight up and down. It does come with two little legs but let's be honest this would be knocked over in a heartbeat. So luckily they did add attachments on the back so that it can be screwed to a wall or solid surface making it much safer. I believe if used this with chicks and it got knocked over it would definitely squish them. Price for the money was pretty much in line with the market right now. It was easy to set up out of the box. There was almost no assembly. Either clip the two little legs on or screw it to a wall. Very simple. It did come with a remote control so that you could change the temperature up and down without manually pushing the buttons on the unit. The unit itself does have three buttons, a power button which you must press and hold for just a couple of seconds for it to turn on and then a plus and minus button for heat. I will say this thing heat it up really quick in less than 20 seconds. It was so hot that I didn't want to put my hand on it. Keep that in mind when you're placing this somewhere. It definitely is a burn risk for anything without a good feathery fluffy coat. As far as the heat radiating off of it, I noticed some heat several in away but by a foot away there was negligible difference in the temperature. So this is going to be more of a contact heater similar to how a mother hen would sit on the babies to keep them warm. I do think if this was left in a small space for a period of time it could definitely bring up the temperature. I have not tested that theory yet but I'm willing to try it and I'll update post. It is a decent size. I would say you could easily have 30 chicks around this thing. Still keeping themselves warm and the quality seems okay. It's not too cheaply made but but not over the top either. ... show more

  • Great safety and auto-reset post power failure features
I am testing this indoors because it is now the peak of Summer heat in the NorthEast. My chicken coop is a shed that I space-heat when the temperatures drop below freezing. This panel heater has a temperature range of 122*F to 191*F. The panel is hot to the touch at all settings, but it is a radiant heater for the area rather than a heater that the chickens will rest against. I put post-it notes on the areas of the panel that do not warm when on (really just the four corners). The panel can be set upright on feet or can be mounted to a vertical surface. I usually mount my panels so that I don't have to worry about them falling over. This panel has an off-feature if the panel tips. If tipped, the panel display will convert from the set temperature to a FLA warning. The heating element turns off, and the surface temperature drops to a touchable level within 5 minutes. Since power failure in the Winter is a real problem, I did test the unit to see if it restores the set temperature if power is lost and then restored. It does! And because the set temperature glows on the panel display, you can confirm the restored setting without going into your chicken coop if you have a camera in place for monitoring your chicken coop interior. I look forward to using this panel this Winter because it has the security settings I need in my coop! ... show more

  • Can’t Wait To Use It This Winter 🥶 🐔
This heater has been a really nice option for keeping the chicken coop warmer without having to mess with a traditional heat lamp. 🐔 The flat panel design is compact and can either stand on the included feet or be mounted, so it’s easy to find a good spot for it. The digital display is simple to read, and I like being able to adjust the temperature instead of having only one heat setting. The memory function is especially convenient because it remembers the settings after losing power instead of making you set everything back up again. I also really appreciate that it automatically comes back on when power is restored, which is important when you’re relying on it for animals. The anti-tip shutoff adds some extra peace of mind in a coop where chickens have a talent for getting into absolutely everything. 😂 It puts out a good amount of warmth without taking up much space, and the construction feels sturdy enough for regular use. Overall, the functionality and safety features make it a good value for money, especially compared with some of the more basic coop heaters. So far, I’m very happy with the quality and would definitely recommend it for anyone wanting a simple way to add some extra warmth to their chicken coop during colder weather! ... show more

  • Impressive Heater with Great Safety Features
I haven't had a chance to use this heater through a full winter yet, but with colder weather around the corner, I'm sure I'll be getting plenty of use out of it. I have tested all of the functionality so far, and I'm very impressed with the build quality and features. It seems just as well made as similar heaters I've seen at local farm stores. I especially like the versatility of the mounting options. It can either be used with the included feet or mounted directly to the coop wall, which makes it easy to position based on your setup. During testing, the heater reached the set temperature very quickly, and I was impressed with the temperature range of 122°F to 191°F. Adjusting the temperature up or down is simple, and the included remote is a nice added convenience. I also tested the safety feature by intentionally tilting and knocking the heater over. It immediately shut off when it detected the change in position, which gives me some extra peace of mind when using it around my flock. Overall, it's a good size for my small flock and seems like it will be a great addition for those especially cold winter days. So far, I'm very impressed with it and look forward to putting it to the real test this winter. ... show more

  • Great chicken coop heater!
This heater is awesome! It rarely gets cold enough for heaters here but I needed one for my brooder and for those few days that it is freezing. This one is so nice! It’s super secure. You can either hang it on a wall or use the feet stand. The feet stand also screw in though, so it’s secure no matter how you want to place it. The cord is a nice length. I really appreciate the remote! It makes it so easy to be able to turn on and off without disturbing the chickens! It heats up quickly and well! It puts off a good area of heat. It also cools off fast too which is nice. I know my chickens will enjoy and be so happy with this heater! ... show more

  • Super easy to set up and my 11 chickens love it!
I bought this heater for my chicken coop to keep my flock safe and warm for the winter, and it has been great. Setup was incredibly easy. I chose to wall-mount it inside the coop to save floor space, but it is nice that it comes with a stand if you prefer to use that instead. Right now, it is heating the coop for my 11 chickens, and they seem very comfortable. The included remote control makes it super convenient to adjust the temperature without having to mess with the panel on the heater itself. One of my favorite things about it is how well it works with external timers and temperature controllers. It is completely compatible and very easy to hook up, which gives me peace of mind knowing the temp is always regulated. Plus, knowing it is UL-certified with an auto shut-off makes me feel a lot safer leaving it running. If you want a safe, hassle-free way to keep your birds warm, I highly recommend this, it’s a must have for the winter months! ... show more
