This awning requires two people to assemble, and the small screw cap is not so easy to tighten, but other than that, it is pretty good. The aluminum alloy roller and iron support rod structure are very solid, with good adjustment performance, the waterproof and sun-proof fabric is of good quality, and the light brown color makes the area under the awning not so dim. With it, the small living room next to the balcony is no longer exposed to the sun, and the whole living room has become much cooler. On weekends or in leisure time, I can spend a good time under the awning with my family and friends. I am very satisfied with this awningđź‘Ť

I installed on our apartment balcony (23rd floor). Poles are located just inside the balcony railing. Because of potential for high winds, it is not wise to rely on these compression poles alone for stability even if the awning is rolled up. If the poles loosen due merely to temperature contraction, the whole thing could pitch forward and fall to the ground. I therefore added: 1. A bungee cord restraining each pole to the railing at pole mid height, 2. A bungee cord restraining the bottom of each pole to the bottom of the railing and 3. two side stabilizing bungees from the tops of the poles diagonally to the railing on either side. A few disappointments: 1. the steel cap nuts are not stainless and do not have lock washers to prevent loosening from wind vibrations. I will add these. 2. The light awning fabric colors do not stop sun glare. They need to offer dark green or blue: Instead you have to pick an almost black color of dark grey. 3. The awning fabric cannot be feasibly removed for cleaning without disassembling the entire structure.

When ordering a 10’ x 10’ awning, I would assume it would extend out 10’ to cover my patio. After assembling (with terrible, picture-only directions included!), I found that the lever arm will only allow the awning to extend out about 5’. Further cranking causes the front end to angle down to the ground rather than extending out the full distance. It is not functional for the size advertised. I ordered 3, and returned two. I’ll find a use for the one I assembled, even though it will not be for my planned use (only because I don’t want to disassemble it after the time it took to assemble). Very disappointed!

I ended up buying three of these because they worked so well. They are kind of a pain to put together, but it was worth the effort because they really keep the sun out of my windows. If you put them up properly, they will not move.

The media could not be loaded. You get what you pay for. Very cheaply made elbows split. Would’ve paid an extra 20 dollars if they made metal ones like a lawn chaise lounge elbows with ball bearing locking feature. The material and cranki g mechanism are well built though. ***UPDATE Very prescient title as I just heard a thump 10 minutes ago. Only 2 days after filming and the rivet inside the plastic adjustable elbow snapped in half rendering my 3 stars now a ZERO Stars. Don't waste your money on this junk as the plastic parts make it unsuitable in any engineering sense of the word to even bring this item to market. Unfortunately, I cannot return this as I had to finish the resurfacing of my balcony first.

This ended up being the perfect size for our small front porch. It seems well designed and constructed and wasn’t difficult to assemble and install. Time will tell about how it holds up but if it ends up being a dog I’ll come back here and tell the story. So far we like it and are happy w/ the purchase. It will not withstand much wind so you need to be careful to roll and stow when it’s not in use. We haven’t had it out in the rain yet and I doubt that’ll happen in our case. Water resistant; possibly. Water proof: most assuredly not. If you really need WATER PROOF keep on searching.

Four stars because I found the title misleading. The size listed in the title is height of legs, and width of shade. Not width and depth of shade. The actual depth (how far out it reaches) is much shorter and you need to sweep through the images on the listing to see all the measurements. Four stars because it was otherwise as described and the company was responsive when I reached out about my issue.
