  • Very Cute and Quiet Nano Filter!
The media could not be loaded. Oh what a cute little tiny NANO filter. The Holoaqua hang on the aquarium filter is a cute Nano filter, which it really needs to state in the description. How does it work. As seen in the pics, it comes with some parts you have to put together. It’s easy enough to figure out by the pictures. I still have no clue what that rubber clearish piece is for. Haha. First remember to rinse everything! After that, once you get it together and hang on a tank, fill the back of the filter up and follow the directions on how to get it going. Adjusting the flow thing on top to get it going as the directions state can be frustrating, as it doesn’t start going at first as it takes a few minutes for all the air to slowly, I will stress, slowly work it’s way up and out of the tube. Be patient, it does eventually work it’s way out. After it starts going, that’s it. The suction isn’t too much and the little prefilter on the inlet tube end makes it even less. The output flow is minimal, and even more minimal if you adjust it using the above mentioned adjuster, but it moves the water for sure which means it is filtering. SUMMARY- The good- This little nano filter fits great on small rimless tanks under 3 gallons, like those for bettas or similar nano set ups. It’s very quiet. It will move water around and filter. The bad- It doesn’t have much filtering capacity as it’s a nano and the flow is not good at all. As seen in my video, moving the flow rate adjuster, the flow doesn’t really get to what I would expect it to be when on full flow. The neutral- If you want water movement and flow and slight filtration, this is cute and quiet little filter. Mine is now being used on a 6 gallon, single male betta tank. It doesn’t move the water too much, but enough to not let the water get stagnant. Want to note that the output is higher when the water level on the tank is higher. But rimless tanks water levels tend to be kept lower then rimmed tanks. So it will be hard to get max output from this filter. I love it for a Nano tank, under 3 gallons, but don’t think the flow can handle much more than that. Overall a cute little nano filter. ... show more

  • Compact mini waterfall filter for small aquariums
Having used waterfall filters for over 40 years on everything from 55-gallon African cichlid tanks to 1-gallon fry grow-out tanks, I feel they are the best and easiest filtration system for the average hobbyist. Just clean and replace the filter material or toss and add new rinsed filter material as often as necessary. This miniature waterfall filter is best for very small tanks, from 1 gallon to a maximum of 5 gallons, no larger. The filter fits well over the back of a rimmed or all-glass tank, and the motor runs smoothly. First, rinse all of the parts, and remember exactly how the 3 pieces of filter media go back in – black first, then white, then blue. Look into the side of the filter and turn the knob on top so that the water flows into the uptake tubes. There are two short tubes that fit together. The white plastic piece goes on the end of the assembled tube, and the thin black mesh piece stretches over the white plastic piece. The long cord on the filter is USB, and a useful USB to electric outlet plug is included. Have a cup handy. Place the filter over the back wall of the water-filled tank, remove the top cover, plug it in, and the motor will try to suction water up through the uptake tube. Quickly use the cup to add water to the top reservoir and keep adding water until water is flowing over the waterfall lip into the tank. If the water is not falling fast enough or if it is still struggling to bring water up the tube, add the cover and turn the knob until water flows steadily and smoothly up the tube and into the tank. Now the knob can be turned to adjust the flow from gentle for raising small fry to full strength. This HOLOAQUA Waterfall Filter is just right for my 2-gallon betta tank. ... show more
