Reverse Osmosis Membrane Capacity: 75 Gallon Per Day (GPD). Film by GE USA.
  • 0 TDS PROMISE: Highest Caliber Nuclear Grade Deionizer Media provides optimal performance for the membrane. The higher the rejection rate of the membrane the longer the DI will last. • Great for Aquarium Water
First off I would only suggest this if you're doing Saltwater aquariums. It will absolutely work for freshwater, however you can just use seachem prime on tap water, and just throw a hose from the faucet to the tank and you're good to go, so you can avoid the hassle of having to make water slowly and store it. For saltwater this thing takes out the worry of bad water for your fish, so you just mix salt into this RODI water, and you're good to go assuming you store it properly. My one recommendation would be that if you have a larger tank(honestly anything more than 20 gallons) I highly recommend getting a bigger model that can produce more water quicker. This says that it produces 75 gallons a day, which my first though was "thats fine, thats how big my tank is, so I can do it in a day." What I didnt think about was the fact that for salt water aquariums you need to have a lot more water stored for water changes, quarantining new fish, and emergencies. I have a 30 gallon drum and a 44 gallon drum to store water in, and it took a few days to fill them. Since I dont want to leave the water running overnight and risk them overflowing in my garage, I would only run them during the day while I was home, which meant it took longer than 24 hours to get 75 gallons. That thrown in with the fact that my fish got sick and I had to move them to a quarantine tank where you have to perform water changes every day. I was making water and using it as fast as it was being made. Like I said, it does the job, and I cant complain about the product, I just recommend getting a faster producing unit for larger tanks, or even for emergencies. My quarantine tank is 20 gallons, and I went through those two drums of water within a week, and since I couldnt make more water until the first drum was emptied, I was cutting it very close on water supply to make it, mix it, and use it all in time so my fish didnt die in the QT. ... show more

  • I don't like leaks
The media could not be loaded. The water filter arrived ahead of time. I finished assembling the unit, and connected it to my garden hose. I immediately discovered a leak coming from the deionization unit cap. The owner immediately sent out a new DI unit. The filter works as it should.

  • 4 year review here and no leaks!!
I love this unit, I bought it back in 2020 when I wanted to start a saltwater aquarium and I've used it pretty much every week since I got it. That said 4 years later I still haven't had to change any of the filter media and I'm reading 0 TDS still but I noticed last week alot of my DI resin is turning bright so it'll need to be changed here soon but I still should have about 6 months life in it. The only part I've had fail on it was the valve for the waste water but it just went out about 2 months ago. I'm on city water and the water is pretty clean for the most part to being with, and being about a block from the water tower that services me get me great water pressure. Overall the longevity, ease of install, quality of the parts in this unit makes a great buy. Best part is I've have ZERO leaks but I did go buy better quality PTFE tape and used that and a little silicone lube on the orings helps it seat better. ... show more

  • Does the job as advertised!
First & foremost this system turns dirty Detroit tap water into honest-to-god consistent 0 TDS water, which is critical for my saltwater aquarium, so I measure it with a TDS meter. Its output volume is at least 80% of the stated capacity, and more like 90+% when the filters etc are new and clean. Very satisfied overall! Now that being said, 4 stars & not 5 for the following reasons- #1 the threaded adapter doesn't fit any of my standard sink fittings and it took 2 trips to the hardware store to get it connected properly. I believe it is designed for a garden hose only. #2 the DI resin cartridge wears out very fast. Even Detroit tap water is still filtered treated tap water, not well, no smell, safe to drink (which I do regularly). I have burned through 2 resin cartridges in the 12 months that I've had this thing, and I'm into the third. I make 10 gal per week of RO/DI water (if that), so each resin cartridge only lasts about 280 gallons max. The stated capacity is 50 GPD, so if you were running it continuously for long stretches of time, you'd need to replace the resin every 5-6 days. Thought it would last longer! I called them to inquire / complain. LiquaGen's customer service was top notch - very helpful and they even sent me a complimentary resin cartridge! #3 it is designed for a wall mount and is not very stable when set on the ground - prone to tipping over. Sadly I don't have space to mount it and its design doesn't have people like me in mind! overall though would recommend for anyone who is looking to make reef tank aquarium water! It tests cleaner than the fish store's RO/DI water, and the health of my tank has improved greatly as a result. Worth the couple minor hassles if you ask me! ... show more
