Super soft, snaps in the front so you could possibly walk around if you had. an extension cord. The timer options are great, I have only used it at level 3 for 30 minutes, but it shuts off on time. The neck cuff is heated, and I didn't realize that until I started writing this review. So far what an excellent deal. This heating pad worked well for 13 months. When using it after a particularly long day it felt hotter than usual so I turned it to its lowest setting thinking I was warm and sensitive to the heat at this time.
