    • I'm making hot drinks again
I have a coffee maker that I'd use every couple of weeks to make tea or cocoa. Using the microwave makes my cup handle uncomfortably hot so I'd use 1 cup to warm my water and another to drink whatever I was making. Both ways just seemed inconvenient and I've bought a stovetop kettle that I used twice before I donated it. I can't give an exact reason why I didn't like that - but the coffeemaker was my method of choice until I bought this. As much as I hate giving up more counter space to a dedicated appliance, I really think this is worth giving it up. The reviews are correct - this boils water faster than anything else in my house and I'm talking full rolling boil. Usually I need about 16 oz at a time and it'll boil by the time I can prepare a cup with teabags. It holds about 4 cups which is about as much boiling water as I ever need. It's as easy as it gets. The hot plate stays plugged in all the time but it doesn't activate til a switch on the back of the pot is flipped. Another button on top the handle flips the lid open, but it doesn't separate from the pot so nothing to lose or drop. Once filled with however much water is needed - and there is a see through scale in back of pot, flip the lid closed. Sit the pot on the plate - I don't think there is anyway to sit it on incorrectly and the pot swivels freely to put the handle out of the way. Flip the boiling switch and in a flash, water will boil. I don't know how it works but the switch flips off by itself once it reaches a full boil - so handy. The finish is nice. I have nothing to fault it for. I've seen reviews where people have indicated the finish floating into the water. Well, that is the water not this device. I filter my water before boiling it because water here is so hard. Superheating water can cause minerals to precipitate in the water. ... show more

I've had it about a week and I'm pleased so far. It works great with a smart plug. I've seen no signs of rust like in the pictures of on this site (amazon). One con is it's pretty loud when it heats up but it's not a big deal to me. Pros are it heats quite fast. In maybe 4 minutes. I love the small size. I've no need for a giant one since i really only make solo cups of pour over at a time. But it's plenty large for two largish size coffees. Updated after 3 years of use: Bottom line it still works. Some thoughts after years of use. I have used this almost every day for three years. Normally at least twice a day for multiple cups of coffee, or hot water for my instant oatmeal. It works good. Works great with a smart timer because it only has one on off button. It is difficult to clean using your hand. I typically pour in vinegar, run a cycle and it's sparkling. The spout tends to accumulate calcium deposits from hard water as well. That usually goes away when i do a vinegar cycle. Love the compact size. Great for one person and no apartment counter space. It's far from premium it just get's the job done until i have money for a high quality one. I don't remember what i paid but i think it was right at $19 or $20.     • Heats up water very fast
I love this electric kettle. I've only had it a few weeks but it's great! I bought it to replace my old fashioned tea kettle that I heated up on my gas stove. I no longer have to turn on the fan over my stove to vent the gas fumes ( for safety) and this kettle heats up a relatively small amount of water incredibly fast. Also, I love the automatic turnoff feature for safety--it works great. I totally recommend this kettle. ... show more

I've been using mine for over a year, and it's still running great. Filling it to the bottom of the spout with water though is not advised unless you keep an eye on it. The auto-cutoff could hit a bit sooner for my tastes, but I expect I'm a bit conservative on what I consider "boiling". The cut-off seems to lean towards the "hard-boil" setting. ... show more
