The quality is extremely disappointing. The plastic construction made the lid and handle feel cheap however we loved the design so we kept it. After only 3 months of careful use the gold paint is showing wear on the lid button and has small chips on the side. We trusted SMEG to stand by their reputation for quality but was again disappointed by the response received after being asked to submit a warranty claim. “Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your SMEG product. We’ve reviewed your case, and after careful consideration, we’ve determined that the issue with your product is due to a cosmetic flake, which is not covered under the terms of our warranty. We understand this may be disappointing, and we are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.” Cosmetic flake is not acceptable for a premium kitchen appliance that is meant for daily use. ... show more

If you’re SMEG fans then no need to think - get this electric kettle if you’re in the need for one. The price is high but you get what you pay for. The noise is not as loud as other kettles. This SMEG percolator looks amazing—classic SMEG style, sleek and snazzy. But the gray wire totally throws it off. It looks so commercial and out of place. Why not a white cord to match the vibe? Still giving it 4 stars because the design is otherwise on point.
