The new updated model works great even with a poor wifi signal and is built like a tank. The grizzle connect app is very basic but it has Time-of-use (TOU) charge scheduling. And shows all the important information like monthly energy usage, cost, etc.

I got the smart one because it's energy star certified and I need the certification for a rebate in my state. I connected it to wifi/app and struggled to use it a few times without interacting with the app. I'm sure there's a way to do it more seamlessly but I figured it'd make more sense to just disconnect it so I did. I also read that if it's not connected to the network it won't charge unless you never connected it which doesn't sound good for me, what if my wifi drops? So I followed the instructions to reset it. It charges great! I just recommend that you never connect it to wifi and never setup the app. It should just charge when it's plugged into a car and you can manage the charging schedules on the car ... show more

Installed professionally with the 14/50 outlet for portability. WiFi was a bit of a challenge to set up. I think it was me being impatient. I walked away frustrated and went to do something in the garage and noticed the blue connected light. We have used it twice and it worked well.

Product: 1/10. It lasted me one year. Customer service: 0/10. Their return policy is infuriating and they make it impossible for a replacement. Background: I've had the charger for 1 year with no issues then all of a sudden, the unit would only charge my car an hour at a time. I took it to dealer and it's not the car. I took it to another charging station at 40amps, and again, not an issue. Lastly, I plugged in a different charger and it works fine so it's not an electrical issue. It's the Grizzl-e unit that is not fine and it's simple as that and despite all that, they will not replace it and here is the process I had to go to before giving up. 1) you need to video record and/or let them know exactly how many red lights start blinking when an error occurs. Problem is that I saw this happen 2 times in 2 months before knowing what it was and I can't sit around for weeks hoping to replicate that. Also, the error lies beyond your "red light" protocol that it's not capturing based on what I wrote above. 2) They will ask you to use a multimeter to test and prove it's not an electrical issue. I don't own one and have never used one and it would cost me money to call an electrician. I ended up buying the MEGEAR portable EV charger that costs half the price and so far works better than the Grizzl-E than to go waste my time and try to get it replaced. ... show more

I like the look and how tough it is. I have a schedule made and one night it don’t charge the car and just tonight it went offline. I had to reset the WiFi name and password. It’s almost like it lost it. This cost me $3.30 vs $0.30. So around $3 more. I need a schedule to save money. This might be getting shipped back. ... show more

This thing might as well not even have wifi. they should have put an external wifi antenna, such a major oversight. If WiFi doesn’t work, or disconnects, the charger will not work. Firmware won’t update either. The unit is only several feet from an access point. I regret buying this charger and it’s too late to replace it. Don’t be me. Do not buy grizzl -e chargers. This issue has been around for at least a year according to posts and they haven’t done anything to resolve it. edit: also, customer support takes forever to respond, and the unit is now stuck in a boot loop. this is the worst tech device i have purchased in the last 20 years. I can't believe my utility company had this as an option. i'm going to write my utility company to remove this from their list as well. ... show more
