    • Install was easy, operation is simple and my confidence is booming.
Sometimes less is more. I installed this unit in my garage for a new EV. The 50 amp circuit was already in place so all I needed to do was to install the NEMA plug and off we went. I chose not to hardware as I do some welding so being able to share the plug with other tools made sense. The body was screwed into a stud near the unit and the hanger was also installed using drywall anchors and seems quite robust as well given that it experiences most of the movement of the charger to the vehicle and back to the wall. That's about it for the review. Easy peasy to install and all I had to do was to plug it in and it works. Doesn't get much easier than that. (note, I am using the pre-configured 40amp charging option. You'll need to open the box and set the dip switches for a lower current setting but that is also very straight forward. Last comment which should go without saying, if you're not comfortable working around electricity and understand safe procedures pay someone to do the electrical bits. ... show more

I got this level 2 charger for my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe on 10/21. And so far it works great. From a empty charge to fill in under 2 hours. Easy to install. But you have to run 240 voltage cables to your power box and use a 50amp Circuit breaker to operate this car charger safely. I live on the North East Coast of the USA. So we get bad winters. So far this product is holding up to snow storms, rain and freezing temperatures. Even in freezing temperatures the thick cable is easy to use and plugs into the vehicle with ease. Well the item itself is made in Canada, so I image it will hold up to the elements. Ok cons: this item is low tech and does not have a app support. But works well with my Uconnect that comes with the Jeep. So for me it doesn’t matter but if your looking for that it could be a problem for you. And the BIGGEST con: customer support and web page support are horrible. I have called their 800 number and it’s a Recording and was unable to get to a live person. Also I wanted to buy the locking system for the charge box and on their web site the only way to get one is to buy a whole new charger. Unbelievable. Other then that I would still recommend buying this product. It’s inexpensive and works well. ... show more

    • Tough charger with great warranty
I ordered this charger because my previous Level 2 charger, one of the many portable models sold on Amazon, died shortly after the 1-year warranty expired. I decided to go with the Extreme edition Grizzl-E charger because of the 5-year warranty and the good price. This charger is built like a tank. It's not hard to mount, though (I mounted it to a brick wall, which required a couple of masonry screws). The charging cord is thicker than the one on my previous charger, and it looks like it's designed to survive just about anything outdoors short of getting run over repeatedly by a lawnmower. The power cord is a little short, so plan ahead on where to mount the box. I was lucky that my outlet was on a wall with plenty of space around it. I did run into one issue. When I first received the charger, it would not charge my car (a hybrid Pacifica). A call to their support quickly revealed that there is an issue with some units if the charger is set to 40A (the highest setting) when trying to charge the Pacifica (which does not require it and does not actually charge at that maximum rate). They told me I could set the charger to 32A max (basically flip a dip switch inside the box) or they could send me a replacement. I chose to get a replacement in case I get another electric vehicle that can use the full 40A. They immediately sent me a replacement unit and a return shipping label. Excellent customer service! (In the meanwhile, I did use their workaround, and it successfully charged my car.) ... show more

    • It's a bargain.
According to the manual, it's able to configure 16/24/32/40A output, the default output setting is 40A ( max 80% draw on the circuit, i.e. need a 50Amp circuit), and the other brand is priced by the Amp value and a quality 40A charger costs $700-$1000 depending on the brand, which makes it a bargain. It's quiet, doesn't like the Creekclipper charger using a 2 pole contactor has a loud click sound whenever charging starts. What's left is the durability and time will tell. note: my old Creekclipper charger works for me for six years, way past the 2 years warranty period. ... show more

The unit could be packaged better, my bracket was slightly bent. Other than that, the unit works exactly as you would expect it. I do not have a garage, I wanted a unit that could be permanently installed in withstand the New England winters, which I believe this unit will do just fine. Because the location is far enough away from my home I did not want or need a unit with all thee web enabled smart features. Where I live we don't get off peak electrical discounts, and even if we did I could set the specific time directly from my car. The unit is very well built, the cable seems to be very sturdy and of high quality. Overall I'm very happy with this unit. Using to supply charge to a 2021 mustang Mach-E. My outlet is a nema 14-50, connected to a 50 amp breaker. This unit will charge the car faster than the supplied unit which is a 32 amp EVSE, this one is 40amps. But I did not want to permanently install my mobile unit outside or have to plug it in every time I wanted to use it, especially as the weather gets worse. ... show more
