Im not the most diligent at servicing my water system. Bought this to replace a much more expensive, complex and then ultimately obsolete water system that I had installed when I bought the house. This system is simple. You do not need to pull the quartz sleeve apart to change the bulb. This is a definite improved design especially if youre one of those nuts that needs a new bulb every 6 months! PS - this bulb has been working for 3 years and the system has been leak free as well. As for the reviewers who claim that the quartz tubes are fragile and break easily - well I got news for you - they all are from all manufacturers. But this system allows you to really get the most out of those tubes once installed. The last system I had , I broke the tube every time when replacing the bulb and several times installing the new. This is much simpler. A couple of VERY IMPORTANT TIPS : 1.)When installing the quartz tube you must lubricate the plastic grommet well both inside and out. This will facilitate the installation and help ensure a leak free mat to the housing. 2.) DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE TUBE HOUSING. Tighten hand tight - check for leaks and hand tighten more if necessary. GO EASY. It does not need to be overtightened! You will break the quartz tube 3.) Order another complete system if and when youre satisfied with the installation and operation. For $200 you'll get another set of tubes, bulbs, seals and the ballast so that you dont have to worry about parts down the road should the system become obsolete. Trust me this is way cheaper than replacing these parts individually. The stainless steel housing wont break of course but having another threaded cap cant hurt either. As for installation you do need high quality teflon tape and some pipe goop on the water connections as they do seep if just wrench tightened. ... show more

This was an absolute life saver. It's an amazing product for an amazing price. This came with several quartz sleeves and replacement UV light tubes! In fact the entire system was less expensive than a couple of replacement bulbs from other companies. I used this product in my old house and bought a new system when we moved into our current home. . . NO REGRETS! ... show more

    • Good water purification, good warranty, but arrived with broken light (twice).
I have really been having trouble getting an ultraviolet light for my water purification system. From reading about this product it seemed to be just what I needed. But it arrived with one of the ultraviolet lights broken. I asked for a replacement ultraviolet light but they would not send me one. So I returned it and ordered it again. The second order had the same problem, one of the ultraviolet lights was broken. It is very frustrating and costing me a lot of aggravation and lost time. All I want is for an order to come with all of the parts in good condition. They need to concentrate on packaging their products so they arrive with all of the parts in good condition. ... show more

Was not to easy to setup, instructions are not very good, does not say how rubber attaches, first time it leaked bad , re did the same and did not leak second time, did not use transformer ..so not sure if it works. No broken tubes, I think, did not check them but no noise of broken glass.

After reading the posted reviews of receiving package of broken bulbs and quartz tube's, including leakage problems I wasn't sure I wanted to order this. But decided to chance it. The product was well packaged and no broken parts. As for the leakage upon installation I had zero leaks. As for the installation manual it could be better. It did not indicate water flow direction but there is a picture diagram showing inlet and outlet direction of water flow. Also there was not an adequate description of placing the O-ring on the quartz tube on the GP-UV55W unit i purchased. After a few minutes of experimenting I figured out how to place it properly in the end cap. Happy with this product so far. ... show more
