They shipped me an out of date product at top price, which was cracked. They shipped it from Florida, and it took weeks to arrive. And when it arrived, the case was cracked, which of course didn't show until it filled itself and leaked briney water everywhere. I also lost 2 bags of potassium salt because of their defective machine. A month later, I am still waiting for my refund-and this is a lot of money. I would never trust Kenmore again. I will be more careful buying from non-Amazon vendors on here in the future. ... show more

    • Easy replacement for my older Kenmore

This was an easy replacement for my 2008 series 300. The bypass valve is slightly different on the new one so I continue to use the old one to minimize re-piping. The new recharging system uses a longer brine fill and brine empty cycle than before but so far so good. Many of the wear parts are the same as the older unit - O-rings, valve disc, valve housing so repairs, if needed, will be as before. The display board has been updated to provide for more options however does not appear to be improved to protect against saltwater fume corrosion -- one of the reasons I needed to replace my older unit. The rectangular exterior shape has a slightly different footprint and lid opening is a bit smaller for adding salt but not a big deal. I have been using a similar design Kenmore water softener for over 40 years and will expect this new design to provide a similar service life and good quality softened water. ... show more
