  • Great UV System & Great Service
Pattern Name: Water Filter Style: whole house UV water filter
The system was easy to install and gives us the confidence of having clean water for our home. We did have bacteria in our water when we purchased our home, but we treated the well and installed this to be sure that we are not affected by any potential contamination. We recently had our water tested without the filter on and we still had no bacteria, so while the filter is not required, it does give us confidence in our water. After just a few months, the UV light burned out. We had the flow switch set on Auto so that it would turn the light on/off when the water was being used so it was not on full time. However, for the 9000 hour bulb to burn out after only a few months tells me that it may not be the best setting. Maybe it was a faulty bulb, but I am going to try to leave it on full time to see if it will last longer. When the bulb burned out, my immediate response was to buy a new one online, or at a local box store. I did the box store with a ship to home option as it was not in stock locally. The bulb came almost a week later, broken. Then I ordered two and waited another 5 days and received one broken and one good. At this point I decided to reach out to iSpring support and I was shocked to get a live person on the line, name John, who did not forward me to anyone else or ask me to fill out some lengthy registration form. Instead, he said he would take care of it and to email him a copy of my proof of purchase. Not three days later I had two new bulbs sitting on my front porch. I should have reached out to support first! Thank you iSpring for your great customer service and for standing behind your products. ... show more

  • Great UV Sterilizer!
Pattern Name: Water Filter Style: whole house UV water filter
I bought the UVF55FS for my rainwater system and it's working great! At first, I thought I'd wasted my money because, after completely flushing my entire system, a coliform bacteria test came out positive. It did it again after a second complete flush. I finally realized that bacteria are pretty sticky and some will inevitably remain stuck to the sides of the pipes, even after multiple attempts to wash them out. So I decided to fill the whole system with a strong concentration of chlorine bleach and I let it stand for 3 hours. Then I flushed the entire system out again until all traces of chlorine odor were gone. I continued using the system for washing but not drinking for a few days then retested for bacteria. This time, the test showed ZERO bacteria. I even let the test incubate for a couple extra days to be sure. One thing I'd recommend is NOT waste your money on the version that I did with the flow sensor. I think the flow sensor is a bad idea now that I've had some experience and more time to think about it. For one thing, the flow sensor will not turn the UV lamp on until flow rate rises to 0.66 GPM. So if you use this mode and you run some water at anything less that this rate, the bacteria-contaminated water entering the UV unit can pass right through without being sterilized. Another problem is that even when the lamp turns on, it will take it a while to come up to full intensity, allowing more unsterilized water to pass through. Yet another problem is that the lamp may not last as long if it's continuously cycled on and off. Therefore, I'm leaving mine on 100% of the time and expect to replace it in 1 year. A few corrections for the manual: On page 4, it incorrectly states the maximum water pressure allowed is 43 PSI. Page 3 apparently has the correct spec which is 85 PSI. It's also stated on page 12: 4 PSI min / 85 PSI max. On page 4, it says to make sure the inlet is at the bottom if you mount the unit vertically because they incorrectly say it will slow down water flow. It won't slow the flow regardless of putting the inlet at the top or bottom. The only way their statement could be true is if the bottom port was left open so water could fall out with no back-pressure. When installed in your home's water system, the difference between pressure-tank pressure and the back-pressure is what determines flow rate, not the orientation of the UV unit. Orientation doesn't effect this at all. On page 8, it says "Mode AUTO is highly recommended to protect the UV lamp.". Not true and definitely NOT recommended. On page 9, it says the "system is designed for continuous operation, and frequent switching will reduce ultraviolet radiation and service life." which directly contradicts the statement on page 8. I believe this statement on page 9 is correct and you should ignore the AUTO mode recommendation. Don't even purchase the version with the flow sensor so you won't have an AUTO mode in the first place! Note that if your home experiences a power outage, unless you use some kind of uninterruptable power supply, your UV sterilizer will be off and any bacteria and viruses can then pass into your potable water system when you turn on a faucet. Mine is on solar with battery storage so is much less of a problem but I still may add a UPS for the UV unit. Lastly, I DO highly recommend this unit after seeing the bacteria test results. ... show more

  • Solid product and amazing results!
Pattern Name: Water Filter Style: whole house UV water filter
We are on a well at the new home that we built. We had several tests conducted on our water in order to get our occupancy permit. The initial ones failed despite having a treatment system in place that was supposed to remove any bacteria. After that system, we were still getting the presence of coliform bacteria ranging from 25-101 MPN/100ml. Two days after I installed the system, we tested again and the results were 0 MPN/100ml. I'm completely thrilled at the performance. The installation was simple and I had it installed in about 30 minutes. There are a couple of things that could be more clear on the installation instructions for self-installers. There is a small rubber washer that goes between the flow sensor and the UV housing. I think it is called out somewhere in the directions, but I missed it the first time. Without that washer installed, you will likely get a leak. Also, liberal use of pipe dope on the connections at the input and output of the housing will prevent leaks. I had to try a few times and used teflon tape the first two times, but that didn't cut it. I ended up doing a healthy layer of tape and then the pipe dope. After that, not a single drop. I also used a mix of crimp and Sharkbite connectors to allow me to remove or adjust the housing should I ever need to do so. ... show more

  • Excellent customer service
Pattern Name: Water Filter Style: whole house UV water filter
I put a 1" 55w whole house UV system in from ispring. It was easy to install. Three years out is still working well. Along the way there were hiccups, bulb damaged by shipping, and minor electrical problem. Sean was fantastic. Helped me diagnose the problems and got parts out to me right away. I intend to use them for a future project. ... show more
