I fell in love it water all my fruit trees beautifully . No other can come close to this one. The other types wouldn't even water 2 of the fruit trees at at all. I was playing hit and miss game. I got really frustrated over it. It only had taken a few minutes to adjust this Gardenia the way I needed to water all of them . Review for: GARDENA ZoomMaxx Oscillating Sprinkler on Weighted Sled Base HOW EVEN IS THE WATERING: ----------------------------- There are reviews out there that extoll the even watering virtues of this sprinkler. While I like this sprinkler, it doesn't seem to water all that evenly. We staked out water rain gauges at 5', 10', 15', and 20' all at 5' off to the side. We also staked out another rain gauge at 15' out and 10' off to the side. After a repeat run to confirm here is the results: GARDENA ZoomMaxx 2300 sqft. Oscillating Sprinkler on a sled: ___5'_____10'____15'____20' __0.25"__0.25"__0.53"__0.81" The rain gauge 15' out and 10' to the side gave the same reading as the one 15' out and only 5' off to the side, 0.53" of water. HOW EVEN DO OTHER SPRINKLERS WATER: --------------------- GARDENA 3900 sqft. Oscillating Sprinkler: ___5'_____10'____15'____20' __0.25"__0.30"__0.70"__0.88" MELNOR 3900 sqft. Oscillating Sprinkler: [Coming Soon] FINELY ADJUSTABLE SIDE RANGES: --------------------------------- Most oscillating sprinklers with side adjustment allow for a few well-separated side range adjustments. This one (and the Gardena classic style oscillating sprinkler) can set the side ranges more precisely. This can be useful if, for example, there are things on both sides of the lawn you don't want to water much, like a home or a stone wall you are weeding. I don't think this is a big benefit, but in case it is to you I included it here. CONS: ------ The knobs that limit how far over the sprinkler will tilt in each direction are hard to set with precision quickly, you'll be adjusting-watching and adjusting-watching again as needed. By comparison those range limiters for the classic oscillating sprinkler designs we see everywhere are easy to adjust. The reason for the difficulty is that the knob on each wheel is quite small and rounded, tough to get any sort of real grip on it. It helps to turn the dial with fingertips from both hands working from both sides of the wheel to get more precision. DO YOU NEED TO SWITCH TO GARDENA ATTACHMENT SYSTEM? -------------------------------- There is no need to buy more Gardena attachments to make this work if you don't want to. I just took a male brass connector from Home Depot or Lowes, wrapped its outside threading in silicon tape, and screwed it into the Gardena connector that comes with this sprinkler, and I was good to go. My hose has the female brass connector.

[Update 3] Still one-star. The experience is getting worse. I was trying to get support and happened to notice that the timer in the picture is NOT the one they sent, which is maybe why it broke? Amazon has links for product support that lead to a 404 because Gardena has changed their websites or something. I went looking for my own way to get warranty support on their website and they require a product number. They have a link to look up product numbers that goes to ANOTHER BRAND WEBSITE where you cannot find the product number. Their support is non-existent, verging on sadistic. Every turn of the way I find myself more disappointed and frustrated. [Update 2] Now that it is outside of the return period, it has become fully defective. The timer regularly fails to run so that I have discovered the sprinkler having run for hours or at one point days on end in one spot. I have probably spent more on wasted water already then the sprinkler itself costed. What is the point of automation if it consistently fails? I have to set reminders to go out and check on it to make sure it does what I expect so I might as well just go spray the lawn myself or use an old fashioned sprinkler. For something this expensive and fancy I would expect it to last more than a month or two. I was very excited when I first set it up but it just doesn't perform as expected. [Update 1] I discovered the sprinkler had stopped oscillating and was just spraying one direction. At first I thought it was broken but after messing with it a bit, it started oscillating again. I hope this does not become a regular issue. Deducted one of five stars. [Update 2] I did get excited and buy their hose and some other garden sprayers. It's neat how they can be interchanged with such speed and ease, but I'm baffled that none of this came with an attachment to make the timer interchangeable with the nozzles the way the sprinkler itself is. You have to unscrew the sprayer attachment to screw in the timer and visa versa. Worse yet: I bought their hose and the timer WILL NOT WORK with their hose. I just ordered another pack of adapters so we'll see if one of them does the trick, but I don't think I should have to order additional adapters to make their own timer work with their own hose. Even after all this, I really like these tools, so I'm only docking one star. They're a pleasure to use when they work, but it's surprisingly complicated to figure out and set up if you want to do more than the bare minimum, and you end up having to buy into a whole ecosystem to just get one sprinkler to work for you. [Original Review] I don't usually write a review when I've barely used a thing but even just while unboxing it, I was giddy. I guess I put a lot of time and effort into watering and, having been through a lot of highly rated sprinklers that do get the job done, this was just a pleasure to set up for the first time. It so easily snaps together and comes with a quick shut-swap attachment that cuts the water flow when you remove the hose. This is so convenient to use that it makes me want to buy more sprinklers just so I can swap the hose between them with delight and glee. It also comes with a shut-off timer which will ease my growing anxiety around starting the sprinkler while working from home. I tend to get caught up in what I'm doing. I even set timers then shut them off thinking "I just need to finish this one line of code then I'll go move the sprinkler" then hours later I realize that I just wasted $6 of water and stripped my soil of nutrients. Everything is so modular. Other companies might avoid such modularity, so you have to buy more stuff, but this just makes me want to buy stuff I don't need. Since I can use the base with other sprinkler heads and use the timer and quick-release shutoff valve on other bases, I feel like I need another base and some more sprinkler heads to switch around. I'm so happy some entrepreneur out there decided to put the same level of engineering and design skill to work on consumer-grade sprinklers that other companies put into helicopters and laptops. I never thought I would unbox a sprinkler with enthusiasm to rival my usual electronic gadgets.
