Our old sprinkler broke, it was about 10 years old, so it was time. This one is very well built, a nice metal base, metal connections and extremely easy to adjust. The old one was a pain to adjust and I would constantly get wet, that's not a problem with this one. I like the bright blue too, easy to spot if you forget and leave it out, so you won't destroy it while cutting the grass. This sprinkler has a large coverage area as well. Have had plastic sprinklers that break within a year. This sprinkler has painted solid metal base. Only the nozzles and control unit are plastic. Once set up, it does not vibrate/shift direction but stays in place. Directional control is very good as I have a narrow stretch to water so its adjustment to only watering the grass and not the driveway is very good. Adjusting how far it spreads its water stream is a matter of how open the faucet is during sprinkling. With a little practice, sprinkler waters grass and not the house, driveway, etc. If it lasts a few seasons, well worth it. ... show more

I just had my front yard chopped up for a new septic drain field and have to try to start a new lawn from scratch. Although I have an irrigation system, I got this to do some "gentle" watering so I don't wash all the seed away. This relatively small (they carry a larger one too) works great, I can water the newly seeded areas individually as I lay down a little seed at a time. Another reviewer mentioned that even at super low water pressure this sprinkler still moves back and forth just as full speed is something I tried out immediately and it proved correctly. I believe these were going for a little over $21? I took a shot and I'm thinking that they were going to be disposable, but I was sorely mistaken. The female connector on the sprinkler is made out of steel, which was the reason I got this, the aluminum frame is super durable, and I'm just over all blown away that most sprinklers with this quality go for twice the price and higher. My home sits on a large corner lot with a gated side yard, so I needed a separate fan sprinkler for that fenced-in area. This beautiful turquoise-colored fan sprinkler was heavy enough to STAY PUT even as the yard was being watered at the highest level of water pressure. The construction seems to be very sturdy in general, and the powder-coated paint is going to hold up over time and not rust for some time. This sprinkler is simply elegant, well made and quite functional. I'm rather pleased with this choice purchase! NOTE: I gave only four stars because I would have preferred to have the water fan control toggles (that will be adjusted most often) to be made of brass instead of plastic. Design and quality parts are essential to longevity of use, in my humble opinion, for any garden tool. This is my only negative comment. My older piece of junk sprinkler would get stuck and not oscillate. This one works like a champ. No problems or issues at all with it. One of the jet sprayers on the end wasn’t spraying well so I put a small piece of 22 AWG wire in and out of the hole and it started spraying well again. This was prob not a fault of the manufacturer unless somehow a piece of dirt got in past the screen on the sprinkler. ... show more

I owned a sprinkler similar to this (only plastic) for many years. I like the way you can control how far forward the water will fall; you can easily make the water just go practically straight up in the air if you are watering a long, narrow space. I use it near my privacy fence where I have several plants, and I like that I can just water the plants and not the whole yard in the process.
