Lights easily by following instructions. The thermostat function is not quite an instant on or off. It seems to work better with each session of use but the fluttering is a bit disconcerting at 1st. So far I've only used it for a light demand on the enclosed porch to bring it up to 68 from high 40's & low 50's. Heat output is great, I set it to high just to see how quick it would heat up a 800cf porch from 48 to 68. Took maybe 10 minutes then I backed it down to 50% and it cycled on and off as advertised. Very quiet compared to the tower style propane heaters without a thermostat. The fan has marginal value but I wouldn't base my purchase on how that worked. The quick disconnect for a 20-30lb remote tank makes life easy also as opposed to changing 1lb tanks. Recommended side and front clearance is accurate for safety. This will definitely make morning coffee on the porch as the sun rises more pleasant in the winter. Worth the money! ... show more

Very disappointed in Amazon and Flame king with this purchase! I bought the heater and upon receiving it one of the feet on the bottom was broke and after installing the propane tank I discovered it was massively leaking. After removing the rear panel I found the line running from the regulator to the control valve broke. Not loose. Not bent. Straight broke. After removing the line you can tell where the assembler from the factory forced the line into the fitting at the regulator to get it to line up therefore causing the line to bind up and break once tightened down. This could have been a very bad outcome had I lit this heater! Amazon has offered to refund the price once I return it yet a replacement heater isn't an option and me purchasing it again would have a mid to late February shipping date. Completely unacceptable all the way around for the money paid for it! ... show more

this item was listed as used/after getting it ,i was amazed that it is like new/well fired it up /worked good/now the only thing i did not like that it does not have power jack that lets you use house hold plug in instead of batteries/i think it was worth the price/if it as good as my big buddy heater it will be a good heater ... show more

I bought this instead of the Big Buddy heater because this has a built in thermostat. Unfortunately, when I received the heater and read the instructions it stated this is for outdoor use only. Had I know that prior to purchase, I would have opted for the Mr. Heater Big Buddy instead.

The Flame King 20,000 BTU Heater easily a bad one. The first time I used the heater it caught on fire. I was not happy with the heater. Very unhappy. It was easy to put the propane in and assemble. It will keep an average size room warm and stay lit for about 4 hours.

    • These heaters are junk, bought 3 and already threw them away after a couple uses.
They have no heat control, over temp in 10 min and shut off. They get so hot on low they stink like they are going to catch fire. Parts are falling off. Worst heaters ever. Went back to buddy heaters. Total waste of money.
