  • Best bench under $200 on Amazon, better than Flybird for sure
Ordered this bench on 3/7/2022 and have used it 4 times a week ever since then for barbell bench, shoulder presses, core work with the leg lock, bulgarian split squats from the back pad (18" height from floor) etc. Overall, I am happy with the purchase and for what's in stock and shipping from Amazon for under $200, there isn't another bench better. Built better than every single Flybird bench when you look at the frame of where both the back pad and seat rest on (picture shows three finger width from top of backpad to where the double back support runs, the seat is the ENTIRE seat on a metal plate). More indepth notes, thoughts and why I'm considering switching bench: When the first bench arrived, the backpad had a literal hole indent in the middle. Requested a return, and the replacement came quick. The pictures you see (5-7 of my review) are the little tears on the cover, and the 5th pic doesn't show, but you can feel a little crack on the wood. I did email the Fitness Reality support rather than return it, and they were SUPER helpful in legitimately just sending me a replacement backpad and seat, and those were pristine! Also an extra endcap piece for the leg lock down, as I was missing one. THey didn't give instructions, so I set it to the side behind my dumbbell rack and just kinda... forgot they were there? So my ENTIRE use of this has been with it as I received, and the 6th picture is any OTHER wear I added in about 9 months of use of it, 4 times a week like clockwork for exercises from 30-70 minutes. Bench feels solid. I'm only about 5'7" (168-170cm) and weight NOW 165-168 range (started at 210 in February, so this bench was a crucial piece to help me lose weight, alongside eating in a caloric deficit), and all the time I never worried about stability of the bench. Never lifted weights before, and since I'm in a home gym, me doing 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps of 120 pounds or so on bench press isn't impressive, but that's what I worked up to and will continue to do for overall health, and I'm no where near the benches maximum supported weight with weight lifted and body weight, and it's solid. Love the ladder style adjustment for incline, as my first bench was a ProForm combo adjustable bench and squat stand, and that sort of ladder but in little slots I actually had the backpad fall down on me and hit my head against it as I was bracing to do a benchpress, so after that scare, this bench was needed, and I never had any scares or accidents again. My only complaints of the bench as it is would be the backpad feels a little too narrow at 10" wide, where most others range from 11.5"-12". Also, the decline at -15 degrees with the seat adjusted to highest position, I don't feel is declined enough to get a FULL crunch when doing abs. If you up the reps you can feel it, but working from 10-12 rep range with a 15lb bumper plate as a cue for a crunch on way up, I feel it should be a bit more angled to allow a full crunch. The reason why I'm flirting with upgrading the bench is simply competition and timing. When I got this bench, any reputable brand (Rep, Rogue, Titan Fitness and other ones) were so expensive for similar styles, but now I found one brand I have bought a ton of equipment from, TruGrit, offered a Total AB FID bench for $250 from their listing on Walmart! Normally their MSRP is like $599 on this bench, and it's listed as clearance, so at that price I ordered and in a few days will receive it and give it a two day test to see if it's worth keeping. I expect it will be, as their padding is about 0.3" thicker, height of bench is closer to IPF standards (17.25" versus Fitness Reality 18", which would make Bulgarian SPlit Squats easier, I hope) and their leg lock down goes on the top of the bench and has a handle, so it's slanted EXTREMELY in such a way that I know it will get a full crunch. Also, if I don't like that bench, they have another FID bench that is similar to the REP AB3000 from TruGrit on Walmart too on clearance as well for $179 that is a ladder style with a simple roller that looks more premium than this. TL;DR- If you have Amazon gift cards or just prefer to shop Amazon, and your budget is no more than $200, I whole heartedly recommend this bench! Keep in mind the only real con I would say is the backpad is 10" which is FINE, but might leave you wishing it was a little wider. Also, the length is great in that I can use just the backpad (37" or so) to bench press and not even worry about the gap or zero gap function. Buy THIS bench and don't bother with ANY Flybird brand. Every comparison on YouTUbe shows how thin the wood, padding, and small the frame supporting it all is, and those are like $20 less. Spend the little more for this and get a much better quality. Just be a smart shopper and look on YouTUbe, Google, other sites to see options, as NOW there are many rollback and pricing deals that make this not as good if you don't mind looking elsewhere. Don't regret my purchase, and maybe the other bench I ordered wouldn't seem worth the extra money I spent on this already that I'll keep it. Will update if I decide that. UPDATE 1/13/2023: So I did bite the bullet on BOTH Tru Grit benches I mentioned. The $249 one with the aggressive incline was firm padding, but the hole for the pin lock in the flat position was wider than tha others, so for flat bench it would wobble a lot! Every other position it was rock solid, so I think either I got one with a wider hole for flat for whatever reason, or just a bad design (the pics look to show one hole wider that would be the flat one). I just returned that outright. The other one that is a ladder style system that was $179 DROPPED TO $149! Ordered it, received a day later literally and just finished assembling it tonight. First impression was it was a CHORE to build. This Fitness Reality is DEAD SIMPLE and maybe... 75-80% done for you out of the box? The Tru Grit one was like... 20% or less done and you had to assemble it ALL! I watched around 5-7 episodes of One Piece as I assembled, so just over 2 hours? Fitness Reality maybe took 30-40 minutes tops. Also, the back pad is solid, but the seat, even tightening all bolt, wobbles a bit and because it's a single post, if I wiggle I can have it lift off a bit. Doesn't feel so sturdy. Maybe they're priced where they should be, because this Fitness Reality bench so far, first impressions and over a year of use later almost, I like it more than the ones I flirted with and might return both and just keep what I have. ... show more

  • Solid bench for working out with dumbbells
First, I'm not a powerlifter, pro athlete, or CrossFit guru. Just your average guy trying to get (back) into shape. I bought a set of Bowflex adjustable dumbbells and wanted a nice weight bench to use with them. I was originally going to buy the Bowflex weight bench too, but I didn't want to pay the hefty price for that bench. Then I saw an online video comparing the best weight benches under $200 (this Fitness Reality 2000 bench and one other). They both looked like great choices, but I ended up going with the Fitness Reality 2000 bench. I don't have any regrets. This Fitness Reality bench is a solid bench, very sturdy, and is perfect for working out with dumbbells. It does everything I need it to do, is easy to move around, and was a breeze to put together. I've only had it for about two months now, but it seems like it will hold up for a long time. (I will come back and update my review if that turns out not to be the case.) So, if you're like me and plan to work out with dumbbells and are looking for a bench at a reasonable price, then this is one that I can recommend. ... show more

  • Quality, Sturdy Bench for variety of workouts
I purchased this due to Covid lockdown, and probably won't need a gym membership anymore - the bench is great for home workouts. It configurable to 3 different positions, with 7 difference angle settings at each position that go from decline to 85 degrees so you can do pretty much any workout you would want. The leg lockdown lets you do abs or provide support for any other workout, really a great feature (you can also remove it). It took 10minutes to put together, and is very sturdy - I'm 6'1 200lbs, and can easily support the most weight i ever plan to use, you can definitely tell the quality and won't be concerned with using heavy weights. The bench is heavier and a little bigger than i thought with the leg lockdown, it wasn't a problem for me but if you have a tight space just make sure to measure appropriately. Had an issue with shipping damage, the seller team through Amazon was great providing help and feedback immediately, they were really helpful and responsive. I'm very happy I spent a little more on this than a cheaper bench that couldn't support as much weight or variety of workouts and don't plan to need a gym membership anymore. ... show more
