this product is better than I expected. Sure given how light it is you do need another person to put it together but for the price i cannot really complain. It is better to assemble before you install. We will see how it holds up over the winter where it rains all the time in Seattle.

Was kinda tough to put it together alone! Really needed another person to hold it together in the groves while bolting it. But, I like it!!! Worked out great for my outside pet door!!!

This is a great little piece of magic! It took a little while to get it but shipping was free so it is hard to complain about that. I have been trying to plan and build a cover over my back door for years but the way the door was installed everything was in the way. I found this cover on Amazon and didn’t think it would hold up to the wind and weather but decided to try it. Boy am I glad I tried it. When i received it I thought it was really flimsy but after it came together it is surprisingly strong. I installed it in 15 minutes and it looks great and works just as well.     • Nice looking awning but difficult to mount

I installed this awning above the back door to the back yard and overall, I am happy that I did this. It actually looks pretty cool outside matching the ivory-colored vinil siding and the deep brown trim. It also gives good protection for the door (of standard size) against rain and sleet. My lower grade is because of one serius issue which is somehow missing in other reviews. The installation kit includes special slug bolts. This means it is designed to be attached to a solid brick or concrete wall. Few people in the US have that kind of walls around their houses. The mounting bolts cannot be attached to a normal frame wall with siding. This leaves one option which I used. I used regular short bolts to attach each side of the awning to a galvanized steel strip that extends above and below the holding bracket and then screwed the strips directly to the wooden door trim. This should hold but there is a considerable amount of work involved, which potential buyers should know about. ... show more

    • Great protection from the sun & elements

I purchased the clear awnings and they do have a UV protection film. I live in AZ & the sun is out all the time. I feel the protection from the sun standing under it. These look great & made from very sturdy plastic. The arms are really thick plastic. Pretty simple to install. It is a must to use a sealant along the backside & sealant around the middle plastic strip if you don't want rain dripping. It is a little shorter than the panels & sit flush to the edge of the arms where the panels slip inside the arms. I attached mine to a long board & hung. I think that is the easiest way to get a level even hang if your fascia board is warped. Excellent Customer Service! I ordered 2 awnings and 1 awning had a couple damaged pieces from shipping. 1} PARTS ARE LISTED BY ONE NAME & CALLED A DIFFERENT NAME WHEN YOU TRY TO ASSEMBLE IT. 2} I HAVE NEVER PUT TOGETHER ANYTHING MORE DIFFICULT. (& I AM ALMOST 60: THAT'S ALOT OF PROJECTS. 3} I DROPPED A SCREW..THEY COULD NOT EVEN TOSS IN ONE EXTRA SCREW! MOST COMPANIES GIVE YOU SEVERAL EXTRA. 4} YOU HAVE TO CURVE THE CHEAP CORRUGATED PLASTIC TO MATCH THE CURVE OF THE BRACKET. JUST 1 SIDE TOOK AN HOUR + 3 PEOPLE. 5} ONE BRACKET HAD 2 HOLES BUT NO MATCHING HOLE IN THE METAL. I DON'T MIND DRILLING...BUT INSTRUCTION DOES NOT SAY YOU NEED TO DRILL DURING ASSEMBLY. IT DOES SAY YOU PUT ONE SCREW IN THE SPOT WHERE U C 2 HOLES. INSTR SAY TO PUT 1 SCREW IN THE OTHER END OF THE BRACKET WHERE THERE IS NO HOLE AT ALL. 6} BETTER MAKE YOURSELF A TEMPLATE FOR ATTACHING TO YOUR HOUSE OR BUILDING. THEY DIDN'T PROVIDE ONE. I’m writing this in Sept 2024. Environmental Conditions: I live in Virginia, so we average about 43 inches of annual rainfall. There are oak trees in the yard, but they’re far enough away that leaves don’t fall and land on the arbor. Awning Condition: the metal piece that connects the two separate plastic awning has rust on about 6-8 square inches or roughy less than 10% of the surface. The plastic awning has more than a dozen holes, all about 3/8” in diameter. Performance: the awning affectively protects the door from rainfall and still provides adequate shade after 3 years of use. It is sturdy and has withheld the kind of wind you can expect in Virginia. Appearance: it looked very nice, at first. The clean white lines contrasts the darker plastic awning. I think it’s fine if you’re looking for a more contemporary look, but after even one year, the ‘polished’ look of clean white details and dark shade start to wear and isn’t as attractive. ... show more
