Yes, it looks perfect and protects our EV charger!

  • Overkill
So this is a very nice cabinet. So nice in fact it looks like an industrial controls cabinet. I’ve used these in IT/networking and I think that’s what I’ll end up doing with this instead of its intended purpose. As EVSEs come in waterproof varieties, I really just wanted something for keeping dust, dirt, ice, tree sap, and all sorts of yuck from leaf blowers and nature, off electrical equipment charging my car. Basically something between a medicine cabinet and a garden hose reel/organizer. I figured as a bonus the cable could be kept clean. However, this is wildly overqualified for the job. This is a medium gauge steel enclosure. It’s at least 18 AWG and comes with a grounding line for the door. For the US you should not use the included strap, which I loosely attached for demonstration purposes, but should use your own 10AWG jumper. Why? Per US electrical code you need 10AWG for the 50A most high amperage EVSEs will provide. You can obviously use 12 for a 16A setup (what I actually use) but 10 AWG is not any more expensive for this short length. I’m unsure what this copper braid is but I’d guess 12 or 14 AWG. Also included is a DIN rail for mounting equipment and stickers denoting its electrical. You should get new labels if you need this. Note that this is not listed enclosure, and it doesn’t have to be for its use case, but I wouldn’t go too far in trying to advertise this as anything other than a box to keep your equipment protected. If you’re using this for low voltage gear (for example, DIN rail networking gear) then all this is fine and useful. The cabinet feature knockouts for electrical wires to come in and out and an opening for your charging cable to exit. There are little rubber strips you install as grommets. For a US context, I’d just use a cable gland and run to a standard US receptacle. When installing everybting you can unmount the back plate, mount everything, then install the backplate. This is just like industrial controls cabinets. So all in all, if you need security for your EVSE then this is likely a great way to keep honest people honest. My main detractions are really just that it’s imposing and would be mounted in a very visible part of the front of my home. That’s not a real problem. If you need an electrical cabinet for networking gear, throw a half rack inside and go to town. If you just need a little bit of weatherproofing for a basic EVSE, I think this is wildly overkill. You may want or need overkill, but I’m going to use this instead as a really nice half rack server cabinet. ... show more

  • Good Quality
I’ve been trying to find something to protect my Tesla Wall Charger since it’s mounted outside, and this enclosure looked like it would do the trick. After setting it up, I’m happy to say it works just like I hoped, it keeps out the rain, dust, and debris and gives the whole setup a nice, clean look. ... show more

  • Pretty good box
Is pretty good, i wish the door had a latch to close on its own , you have to manually close it

  • Ventilation Issue (Poor ventilation design) resulting in heating alerts.
This box is of great quality material... However, it does have a Ventilation issue! I was used to keeping this box closed while charging my car... So, on 2 different days, while the sun was out & hot... while charging my car, I got an alert on Tesla App that the charger temperature is HOT and hence it will slow down the charging / stop the charging. (As a result, I had to get my electrician to check the wiring and everything was good) Now, I leave the box open while charging my car so that there is better air circulation and lesser heat being retained within the box. The box being black in color, also is very hot when I touch it during sunny days (this is fine, just stating it here)... So, in my scenario, the heat from the black box was raising the temperature of the Tesla charger everytime I left the box closed while charging my car. ... show more

  • Premium appearence, perfect functionality
Installed this to house a wall charger outdoors where it is exposed to a lot of wind and rain, and my perfectionist home-design eyes. The steel feels heavy and rigid, no flex in the front panel. The tempered glass door front gives it a cleaner, more appliance look than a standard gray metal box. If I had a modern home, rather than colonial, I would even be inclined to put in a small LED strip to really enhance the premium appearence. There is plenty of space for cable management, the inside is big enough to function well in looping the charging cord without cramming it and the wall mount cutouts lined up very easily when installing. The lock mechanism is smooth, no sticking. So far its functioned in keeping dust and water completely out. For me, the biggest selling point of the install is its appearance. I do not like the aesthetic of cables, chargers etc, this makes new technology hide in at an old home, making it discreet. Worth it if you want your charging setup to look tidy and be fully weather protected. ... show more

  • Damaged and poor quality
the enclosure arrived damaged and is poorly made. not surprising because of how it was secured/packaged. it looks like the company cobbled together some foam from around the factory and cut it to size. different foam retrofitted to sort of protect things. the door isn't aligned and opens crooked. i'm very very unsatisfied with this product. ... show more

  • Very solid, great protection for your EV setup
I have an old home that has been destined for an EV quick charger to be installed out front by the driveway. I had considered a number of options, but when this came out I jumped on it, and it's perfect. I think what I like the most is that you can really cover all three major issues with an EV charger: 1.) a place to terminate the conduit for power, 2.) protecting the charger from the sun and rain, and 3.) a place to put the cord (other than coiling it up, instead of again being out in the sun). The only custom fabrication I added was a small 240v fan (looks like a computer fan) and a basic thermostat switch, so that the fan would turn on and circulate air through the box for anything over 100F. The fan runs off the 240V circuit pulled for the charger. The box is very solid; you won't be disappointed. ... show more
